I didn't see the interview, but how can you be so certain they were gang colors? Did they say that? Did they throw out some gang signs? Did you think that they may be wearing the colors for their team?

I don't know if they are in gangs or whatever but they certainly could have passed for it by the way they were dressed. Odom was dressed fine but the other two guys were dressed in all red with red bandanas and hats.

Timing, not insult your knowledge of urban America's inner city gangs but if they were dressed in all red they were Bloods.(the mortal enemies of the Crips)Or maybe they were wearing red in support of their Clippers [IMG]

How stereotypical. Just because someone is dressed in gang colored clothing, it doesn't mean they are gang members.

In timing's defense, wear a blue or red shirt and noone will say you're gang related but wear all red or blue and portray yourself in a certain way and voila

ZRB how would you propose to identify gang members? Should we just ask for their gang member identification cards? I would say teens dressed in all red with red bandanas and hats is a pretty damn good start in identifying a potential gang member.

Why? I mean, if you can't even remember that blood=red, then how can you assume that someone's clothing could possibly tell you something like that?

I wonder if it had been Collier, Langhi and Bullard if you would've posted the same thing.

I definitely think race may have played a part in your interpretation. Would you have criticized white players for wearing casual clothing that just happened to be all the same color? Why should they have to dress "professionally" when they're doing the guys at TNT a favor by granting an interview which they didn't have to give.
Just because they're young black males that dress in popular urban clothing doesn't mean that you need to hold onto your wallet or wear a bullet proof vest when they're around.

I dunno Rocketman, perhaps I'm not fortunate enough to live in fantasy land where people aren't judged by their appearance. I wear casual clothing a great deal of the time and I've never by some odd coincidence accidentally gone to work with red pants, a red shirt, a red bandana, and a red hat all at the same time. Maybe we should call unsolved mysteries?

And PULEASE, doing TNT a favor?! Are you serious? Excuse me but we are talkin about the Clippers still right? In the real world most professionals are required to dress professionally when representing their business to media. Yet it's different for Darius Miles because he's young and black!? Whatever... I wonder what this board would be saying if Rudy showed up to an interview dressed like that. He'd be gettin blasted all over the place for lookin like a clown.

    It was Quentin Richardson.

Going into commercial break, Odom was flashing something with his hands. Though he may just be saying hi to some friends.

Somehow, i have to agree with timing on this one. He seems to make it pretty clear he isnt trying to be racist in any way. Rather, his point is pretty good. When do you ever intentionally dress in all one color. Beyond that, I was under the assumption the the CBA required NBA players to dress professionally in their contracts at all and any media like event. That is why you always see NBA players in suits getting off buses and stuff---who would really be dressed in a suit for a bus ride??

Even if they do play for the Clippers they were doing TNT a favor by giving up their own time to do an interview.
The league does not have a policy about having to dress professionally at all media events (although this would not qualify as an "event" anyway). I remember allen iverson being criticized quite a bit for the way he dressed. Any dress codes are enforced by the team, not the league.

Aren't the Clippers color red and blue?

So, I guess Calvin's a crip because he wears that all blue suit sometimes?

What does an all-purple suit signify, his support of gay rights?

I always thought the proper Calvin analogy to this would be that Calvin is a pimp because of the way he dresses.

You know that Timing said that because they are African-American.

Maybe it was a gang thing, but why does it have to be if you wear the same color you are automatically in a gang.

Our school is now in a dumb-ass dress code because of assumptions like this(a teacher accused a group of about 8 students of being in a gang, that weren't because they were all wearking yellow)

We are now stuck in dress code(Green polo shirt, khaki slacks/shorts
