Ok so today when I came home 1 in the morning, my phone rang as soon as I walked into the door. The wierd thing is there was no one on the other end and when I said "hello" all I heard was this echoing sound.

This has happened to me a few times over the last few months so if there are any phone technicians/experts or fortune tellers present, could you enlighten me as to what that may be?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Obviously been the brave man that I am I wasn't scared one bit  . But my family friend recently got robbed after someone called her home, asked her to turn off her phone for "maintenance purposes" and in the meantime took out 8k from her bank account. Her bank tried to call her for confirmation purposes and because she unplugged her home phone, they couldn't reach her and the transaction went through. I am just worried that these mysterious phone calls might be similar to the scam that she experienced?

I didn't think that chain emails actually occurred in real life.

Your family friend should just admit to her husband that she blew that 8K on shoes.

Just google the # that shows up on your caller-id. That should explain everything.

You better be glad he didn't say "Do you like scary movies?" :D

Call your phone carrier and report it... they might be able to tell you where the calling number is located. Other than that, unless you have some sort of inside contact with access to the records or get the authorities involved, you won't know a thing. I'd reverse-google the number like ima said.

Odd. Someone called my wife's cell the other day when my wife and son were home alone and asked for Jennifer. My wife said he had the wrong number. The caller then asked her what her name was, to which she responded why does that matter. He then asked if she was married. She answered yes. He then asked if her husband was home, and she hung up.

    Now that is concerning.

Which one? the 1922 anti-semitic propaganda one (Max Schreck, or the 1979 homophobic propaganda one (Klaus Kinski)? :D

eh, it's really subtle, but basically the 1922 version featured a vampire with "Jewish features". You're supposed to hate the vampire - him being the villain and all... So when you got out of the film, all the people of Jewish descent around you resembled the vampire, and subconsciously you'd dislike the Jewish people.
