Not trying to pick a fight here, but it might start one. Who do you guys think has the most credibility on this board? Who do you guys think has the least credibility? I think a credible poster is able to look at both sides of an argument. Our thoughts and morals are always affected by our angle of vision. Some posters may be extreme conservatives or liberals. Others may be atheist or very religious. Some may be pro-palestinian or pro-arab or have first hand experience in the conflict. Some may be pro-capitalism while others, like most of our chinese posters, are pro-socialism. The beautiful thing about this board is that we have so many different angles of vision that we could make good arguments by summarizing the threads. However, it is rare that we get posters that are willing to acknowledge both sides. Posters like Lil, glynch, T_J(and there are more) are all notorious for being very one-sided. In my eyes, they lose all credibility for being so myopic. Again, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you guys.. I just believe that you will come off much stronger if you recognize faults in your own arguments. So.. the purpose of this thread. Who's posts do you enjoy the most? Who can't you stand and why?
I think I am by far the most credible poster on this board and my posts are the most enjoyable . A distant second would be SLA, because he constantly displays an outstanding ability to question himself and change his opinion not over the course of a discussion, but in fact in the very post he makes. Not once, not twice, but at least three times, going back and forth . Seriously, though, I think that often, the antagonistic views make for a good discussion. I usually discount a little bit of what either side throws in and enjoy following the different viewpoints (and the ensuing fights and personal insults). Then, from time to time, I will butt in with a smartass remark or will point out flaws in a poster's argument or style. This is much easier than making great posts myself . Where I agree with you is that after a while, responses become predictable if you have read a few posts by the poster. Some do it on purpose, which is funny for a while, and some are really unable to ever put themselves in the position of the other person and to try to understand their side of the argument. These people amaze me, but reading their posts sometimes gives me an idea of why some conflicts in the world last decades or longer... As to your last question, I can foresee this thread being locked at some point, but I am looking forward to seeing the posts up to that point .
Agreed!. Well I think that most people here just say their own opinions and don't look at both perspectives or points of view..they say what they think!
Okay first of all it definitely aint SJC. I know for sure he's a liar because he made up this whole round the world trip. Nobody travelling to a new global destination every 2 days (and mind you, chick-laden places like Rio, Buenos Aires, etc) has any time to be posting on some bbs with a bunch of dudes. So anyways, most credible in the Hangout I would probably say that FranchiseBlade guy. I've seen him receive personal attacks in threads and still maintain a courteous disposition and go about making his points, sticking to the thread topic. Least credible posters in my book would be those who make the gratuitous personal attacks and attempt to humiliate when arguing their points. IMO, it's pretty pathetic in the grand scheme of things. I mean if you need to boost your ego by trying to clown some faceless guy on a message board, then deep down you must feel really insecure and crappy about your life.
I have to agree that FranchiseBlade is a credible poster on here. Even though we don't see eye-to-eye on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict... he does respect both sides and constantly trashes suicide bombers while other posters tend to justify their actions in some shape or form.
I don't venture into the D&D forum very often, and I certainly don't post very much...but I think one of the most fair posters in here is MadMax. I alway enjoy reading his posts, he's got his own opinions but is definitely willing to listen to both sides. And I think we all know who the least flexible posters here are.
