I bought myself a small bottle from GNC. I'm hoping this will help me recover from my shoulder surgery quicker. Cuz right now I have a hard time just doing a pushup. Dude said just drink pleanty of water. And dont take it then dont work out cause u will just gain fat. anybody have any good experiences or bad experiences w/ this product. how effective or ineffective is it?
First of all, never take advice from someone working at GNC. Creatine will not give you fat if you don't work out. Creatine helps muscles hold more water, giving them a bulkier look. If you aren't a heavy duty lifter and by that I mean in the intermediate/advanced stages of lifting you don't need it.
There's not really any quick & easy method to speed recovery from surgery, especially where muscle strength is concerned. In fact, a rapid return to strenghening exercises can be detrimental, if you try to do too much too soon post-surgery. What type of procedure did you have? If any cartilage was repaired, try taking glucosamine/chondroitin supplements, it improves joint lubrication, aids in cartilage regeneration & has done wonders for my knees. The only advice I can give you is to absolutely, definitely, without question do the physical therapy/rehab regimen prescribed by your surgeon. Bust your ass at it, the payoffs down the road are huge.
It killed my apetite. Oh well. I have a bottle of amino acids sitting on my desk for when i start to work out again. Try those.
I can't really answer what you need to do since I never have had surgery. However, I do feel that creatine is overrated. I work out 4 times a week and my workouts are usually an hour to little over an hour. Now, I have been working out since the end of January, and I have come a long way....my bench has gone from 135 to 220 for starters, my biceps are now 15 and a half inches, and I can do 10 dips at one time when I couldn't even do one before. Yet when some people see me, they always ask if I have been taking creatine! I have never even come close to taking it, and I just don't want to get into spending money on that stuff. So, why in the hell did I tell all this?? I dunno. Maybe to say that if you ever get serious about lifting weights, just let the lifting do the results for you. So many people get impatient when they don't see results right away.
IMO i think creatine is for pansys, but whatever someone wants to do they can go for it. I am not sure what the + or - of creatine is because i havent taken it nor do i ever plan on taking it. I have heard it tastes like crap though.
Creatine did wonders for me... However, I'll only recommend it if you will have a good regular work out routine, and follow the instructions to the book when coming off of it. With creatine, you can practically say goodbye to the pains from the workout of the day before. It'll keep your muscles in good condition for continuous lifting. However, the water weight in the muscles can be deceiving, so watch out for that.
Check out this web site...I hear this really helps to recover from injury. At least thats what Ken Caminiti suggests... Recover Faster From Injury!!!!
1) Follow your Drs./Physical Therapist's regime to the letter, or recovery could take years and you could lose flexibility pretty much permanently; 2) Free-form aminos will help; 3) I don't know howcreatine would help recovery from surgery, but it will be minimal compared to aminos.
OK it's been covered pretty much but I thought I'd throw in my .02 . I took creatine for about a year and followed the directions to the letter. What it's supposed to do (and does do rather effectively IMO) is hold water in your muscle tissues. This does cause bulkier muscles, but also allows the muscles to recover quicker and stay hydrated longer. It worked quite well for me, but something odd showed up. My cholesterol is checked every three months (family problem) and the doctor noticed some "odd" readings. It seems that the water that is not used to rehydrate the muscles is flushed out the body. This causes your kidneys to work harder and produce more enzymes. It can also end up flushing too MUCH water out of your system and form crystals in your kidneys from the extra waste in your system (gross sounding, but painless). After three months without all my readings were normal and I've just never gone back to it. So, while creatine does work when taken properly, care should be taken when using it.
Check out this website, very good. http://www.absolute-creatine.com/ I took it when I was working out hard (heavy squats/bench) and it seemed to help some, maybe it was mental. From what I understand creatine is supposed to enhance your endurance somewhat, basically lets your muscles last longer before burnout. My final thoughts on creatine, overpriced and overrated. Get enough rest and protein and you will probably get the same results with or without creatine.
Try GLUCOSAMINE from the "Joint Juice" packs at Sams. Those will strengthen your joints. They worked for me after a knee surgery (endo meniscectomy and MCL repair).
If you workout every day you stop getting sore. Your body kind of just gets used to it. You don't even need creatine for that.
I haven't seen any bots yet since the update but this looked like spam. Joined today and bumped a 14 year old post to link some website as the account's first post.
Yeah, I don't think a lot or something, but saw one other one in garm where it was new thread advertising something not related. I don't think it lasted long but got a few replies.
