You might not be bored. But I sure as hell am, and I have been making these "crazy hypothetical" threads for awhile now to entertain myself. I think this could give some insight into who you are as a Rockets fan. We can all agree that we need some added talent on the roster. But where do you feel we need it? I propose this question. Keep in mind it is both crazy and hypothetical. It may be fun... May be a disaster...

Who would you add from last years Pistons?

    Ben Wallace:
+Rebounding, defense, toughness, starts of PF, time at backup C.
    - Declining stats, no offense

    R. Wallace:
+Shooting, toughness, defense, passion?, can hit the 3, is he the enforcer we need?
-lack of rebounds and poor attitude

    T. Prince
+young, developing offensively, DEFENSE, can guard the opposing SG (tmac could then play SG),
    -Size, rebounding, passing,

    R. Hamilton
+shooting, moving without the ball, gives us a legit 2
    - does he fit into our offense?

    C. Billups
+ can play the 2, shoots, leads, size
    - demand the ball too much?, not a true pg?

i thought about adding big ben and putting him at the 4 with yao, but i think ultimately we need a better floor general. chauncy, imho, makes his team better, more so than say....having ben wallace, or having skip currently.

plus, wallace demands a lot of space in the paint to be productive. space that yao actualy needs to be productive.

Rasheed Wallace looks to be very close to what we need at PF.

Billups, this isn't even close. He's the best player on their team, including best 3 PT shooter.

    I'd go with this order:

    1. Rasheed- He would pretty much blow the roof off our defensive capabilities. A big, athletic guy that can defend one on one AND rotate? Fuggeddaboudit. And he would fit right into our offensive gameplan by being a 4 than can spread the floor.

    2. Billups- He's strong on both ends, and is money in the clutch. This guy is a pure stud.

    3. Rip- He would provide the scoring that we need. And is exactly the type of SG that would thrive in JVG's offense.

    4. Tayshaun- He'd also be great defensively for us, but I like the offensive/all-around contributions of the guys in front of him.

    5. Ben- I'll take him for free, but he's not exactly an ideal fit. Maybe Yao and Ben could form a dominant defense, but the offense would be really fugly with Ben's defender collapsing all over Yao.

I'd have the first two options tied, but basically I'm right there with you on this m_cable.

Ben doesn't have the O but everything else abot his game reminds me of a young scrappy Dream.

I like ben best, but the fit with Yao would be tough, but I don't think it would be so bad...

lol, I picked Larry Brown. At least he would post more of a defensive threat than Juwan howard, especially against Pistons/Knicks.

I'm picking the young guy with the smallish salary, Tayshaun.

Great defender and shooter with other skills.

I love Tayshaun Prince, but why would you want him over Billups, Wallace and Hamilton when we have Tracy McGrady and Shane Battier to play his positions? Whereas we're pretty weak at power forward, shooting guard and even point guard? I really love Prince's game, but that seems a bit odd to me.

    i would like Rip.

Dude can flat out score and shoots a good percentage all the way out to the 3.

open jumpers created by Tmac and Yao would completely utilize his great shooting and his ability to spread the floor.

    Why not everyone else

Billups is good, but kinda needy with the ball for my taste. Not great assist numbers especially on a team with Dominant 1 and 2's (rybo and juwan).

Benny wallace - no O makes him a huge liability and his man could just rotate to trap yao. Plus our defense is suffiicient enough.

Sheed - Kinda erratic player and plays on perimeter too much

Prince - this was rough, but he would be fantastic as the new age 4 to usher in the new era of basketball. He just isn't the flat out shooter rip is although his defense would be fantastic to leave tracy to guard some1 else.

Chauncey is due for a big raise soon. Both the Wallaces are getting up there in age (and salary). Hamilton isn't as good on D. So, I'm taking Tayshaun.

Screw position, I'm playng the lineup of Yao Ming and 4 Small Forwards. It's Yao, TMac, Tayshaun, Battier, and Snyder for my starting 5.

    1. Richard Hamilton
    2. Chauncy Billups
    3. Ben Wallace
    4. Rasheed Wallace
    5. Tayshaun Prince

Hamilton gives us our biggest weakness, a legit 3rd scorer.
Chauncy gives us a PG with every skill you would ever want.
Ben, land him and no PF in the league will abuse you again.
Rasheed, he's mean, he has range, he rebounds and scores... nearly perfect
Prince is so long at his position that you'll never really feel small with him in the lineup at SG/SF and you won't sacrifice speed either.

You really can't go wrong with 5 championship caliber players, but I'd take R. 'all business' Hamilton ahead of any of them. His offense would keep the Rockets in almost every game.

BUT, this is crazy hypothetical, right? I'd take McDyess before the injury over any of these guys. He could slow down David Robinson on his worst day before the injury bug. And he's a PF/C.

    1. C. Billups - A very skilled offensive player who can shoot lights out. He seems like the perfect fit for this team. If someone double team Yao or Tracy - then they will pay for it. Billups can also lead the Rockets during clutch situations. He is tied with ...

    1. Ben Wallace - Would be on the top of my list if he had any offensive game at all. He can't shoot. He is a great defensive player; does everything to help his team out. Very dedicated, hard worker, can create steals, blocks, and is very strong. He is basically there for toughness and defensive purposes. Noone will ever drive to the paint if Ben Wallace play PF and Yao at C. Imagine it.

    3. Rip Hamilton - Wow. To have a guy like Hamilton on with Tracy McGrady and Yao - it would seem like an all-star game. He's a great player. Great offensive scorer. Would help the team a lot at the SG. Can move without the ball.

    4. T. Prince - Can gaurd the other teams most explosive player such as Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, and LeBron James. He can score offensively and has good defensive awareness. He can be a swingman and gaurd the other teams superstar and let TMAC drop 60.

    5. Rasheed Wallace - Basically a PF that can shoot. He shows toughness and seems to have passion for the game. Although hes a PF - he really enjoy stroking those 3 pointers. It would help us having a PF that can knock down open threes and Sheed can definately do that. But unlike Ben Wallace - he isn't that great of a rebounder. We need a PF that can rebound.

That sounds insane - but it just might work out. But instead of Snyder - i'll probably replace him with Alston. Even though he lack offensive skills, with that line up - you don't need Alston to score a lot. Just need a PG to bring the ball up; take care of the ball and pass it to other players.

Good call. McDyess was just becoming a superstar when he went down. Single handedly won me some fantasy bball leagues back in the day...

I'd grab Rasheed in a heartbeat. Excellent one on one defender in the post, and for all i care he can hang on the perimeter all he wants, give Yao his room to do some damage, if Yao kicks out, Rasheed will make those threes.

He isn't the best rebounder in the league, but he's a better rebounder than Juwan, and that's good enough. He can also post up his man and score inside too.

He is the closest thing we need out of a PF, after Lamar Odom. Odom's speed makes him more equipped to defend the Dirks and Amare's who like to blow past their man.
