I thing crawford would bring alot of versatility to the team not only scoring wise but size as well!!!

Lue is a solid back-up but not full time !!!

If we could acquire Crawford for the value of the TE and not take any of Chicago's dead weight it would be worth the risk.

I think with this acqusition it would elevate up to the top 5 in the league !!!

With acquiring Damon Jones, Charlie Ward or Antonio Daniels we will stuck in the middle of the pack !!! They are all career back-up,they have never led a team in their careers !!!!

Crawford's a shoot-first PG that doesn't play very good defense. He spent the majority of his time last season at the 2 and looked much more comfortable. I don't think he'd be ideal. He'd be better than Charlie Ward, but not ideal.

Why in the world would you want Crawford? Hes not a true PG.

We already have TMAC and YAO.

We just need a PG that can play D, pass the ball and create very few turnovers.

Crawford is none of those qualities, but he is a good player.

He is just not what we are looking for.

If we could get J. Crawfod for just the 6.9 mil then maybe.

However, the Bulls are trying to unload Jerome Williams AND perhaps Eddie Robinson. We do not want either of those players to acquire a player that isn't the greatest fit anyway.

While I, too, would rather have Daniels run a steady point here next year for chump change than have Crawford at a high price, I would not be opposed to a trade of Mo Taylor and the TE for Crawford and Jerome Williams. A Crawford/TMac backcourt would give the Rockets all the firepower they'd need from the guard position. Also, Jerome is exactly the type of banging, rebounding ENERGY guy the Rockets have been looking for, a la Bo Outlaw. While his contract is bad (7 yrs, ~$41M), it is less than Mo's, has a team option in '07, and is actually less than Brian Cardinal will be making per year.

    Crawford/Lue/Gaines
    McGrady/Pike
    Jackson/Boki
    Howard/J.Williams/Spoon
    Yao/???

With Crawford's length, if JVG can get him to buy into the defensive scheme, that would be a LOOOONG team on defense.

    Just a thought.

Now, let's just get Daniels and a cheap big man instead. ;)

Why would we trade for a shoot-first point guard that can't shoot?

He'd be ideal for the Heat, but not the Rockets.

I'm sorry, but I have a personal policy of giving 1 star to threads that contain 15 exclamation points or more. Better luck next time.

I think we need a scorer at PG. Chauncey billups type would be ideal. Now does Jamal Crawford fit the bill? I can't truly say. But he does have some trade value if it doesn't work out.

I like the idea of trying to get Jamal Crawford. Crawford has great natural abilities. He's got potentials to be a defensive force if he can add some weight and learn some basic defensive concepts. Not many big guards are as quick as Crawford is. Jerry Krause drafted him because of that.

Crawford shot horribly last season, but the reason for that was because that he was forced to be the No. 1 offensive option on a bad Bulls team after they traded away Rose and Marshall. He clearly wasn't ready for that role. He should shoot better when he takes on a lesser role on a better team. As a pure shooter Crawford is very good.

Remember that Crawford essentially didn't play his rookie season and missed out most of his sophomore year due to a knee injury. I think that there is still room to improve for Crawford. His true value is that he can play PG. He's a great ball handler and an above average passer. As a primary SG last season he averaged over 5 assists per game.

Crawford may not look like a good fit on paper, but he's better than anyone else that we could get this off-season. The Bulls are looking to unload one of their bad contracts. The Rockets could send Clarence Weatherspoon to the Bulls for Jerome Williams and the TE for Crawford. Spoon's contract runs out in two years (one year shorter than Williams' guaranteed contract) so they get some degree of cap relief. New York's offer is not going to be better than this. Crawford can get a starting salary of about 6 mil. dollars for the Rockets and that's more than he could get from the Bulls (who are willing to offer at most 5 mil.).

    1. Crawford is Steve Francis lite and I don't even want Steve Francis back.

    2. The Bulls WILL NOT sign and trade Crawford with out getting rid of at least one of their bad contracts with him. Everything being reported indicates they're trying to send off BOTH Eddie Robinson and Jerome Williams contracts with Crawford. If we want Crawford, we must take on those contracts too and no thanks.

OFCOURSE he wants us to get Crawford!

Look at his name.... This guy is none other than the head coach of the Utah Jazz trying to run us into the ground. Obviously he's found out about the amount of influence we, as a board, have on the Rockets roster moves.

I live near Chicago and watch Crawford and the Bulls often. This kid will NOT fit Rockets style of basketball. He is a shoot first guard that plays no defense but rather shoot as much as he can to rack up his 20+ ppg avg. He is worse than the SF and also has a very bad work ethic and never listen to his coach. The only player I would consider from the Bulls is Hinrich, an unselfish guard that will pass the ball and has good passing skill...he just need to work on his jump shot and inside penetration but he will improve with each game. I don't think the Bulls will let him go though.

Crawford is very athletic, and I like that he is tall. He is an up and coming talent. But, his BB IQ is very low. He's not a good passer, not good on defense, and he's not a good fit with TMac and Yao. His only value would be for a trading chit, if they took Taylor or Spoon off our hands, and to give depth behind TMac. But, he's not what we're looking for at PG, nor is he one of our "fitting" pieces to a team built around 2 great players who are intelligent and see the floor.

The "pieces" that I'd love to get from CHI, if they would want any of our TE or power forwards, are Hinrich, Duhon, Chandler, and Jerome Williams (even with his bad contract).

I think Chicago is an ideal trading partner for us, but not for Crawford. If we took some of the other players I mentioned, they would be able to move him to another team, and get much better compensation than what NY is offering. Because of their need for cap room, they are willing to accept lesser players. But, if that need was solved other ways, ie. with us, they could get value for value for Crawford. But, in my opinion, his value for us at PG is low. We just traded someone like him away, because he didn't fit. It would make no sense to bring back the same problem.
