Could this be a sign that he's just waiting for either the Texans or Panthers coaching positions? Seems like an interesting debate.

Odds that McNair told him to wait out another season before he makes a real judgement on Kubiak? Not to mention that Kubiak's contract expires as well so yeah.

Odds are Bob McNair has not spoken to Bill Cowher about anything and this news has little to do with the Texans.

Odds are much better than Cowher is simply waiting for Carolina to open up. They're allowing Fox and his staff to come back for the last year of their contracts, but not offering an extension.

Why wouldn't he take the DC job. Isn't that close to NC? And a better job.

If you could take Shanahan or Cowher, would n't you take Cowher?

I would fire Kubes if we could get Cowher.

So I'll be rooting hard for the Panthers next season, just in case! :)

McNair: Hey Bill, we've decided to keep Kubes for another year. So would you mind turning down all job offers this year? That way, if we decide to fire Gary next year, you'll still be available. You'd do that for us, right? And if we don't fire Kubiak next year, would you mind not taking a job in 2012 either? Thanks.
