Did not know I needed a laid-back blusey cover of the Gheto Boys in my life until I saw this last night:
Not new I guess but I just heard it this afternoon for the first time on Sirius/XM. The DJ and I both agree, this is better...
Just saw him at Anderson Fair in front of like ~30 people on 4/20. He mainly talked, and I mainly wept {the good kind}.
met him and John Hiatt about 15 years ago when we booked them for one of their joint appearances, they are a couple of characters
There's no way that comment can possibly posted without the obvious corresponding reply inquiring after the mysterious identity of "we", but, of course, you already knew that... :}
Certainly by no means better than the original, but I will never forget the power of this pandemic performance - true manipulation, vividly visceral in its benevolence.
I think I've mentioned before that I ran a small (1600 seats) historic theater/performing arts venue for a couple of years. Everything from touring Broadway shows, comedians, singers, musical groups, to college a cappella competitions, Christmas shows, and local youth theater. Really enjoyed it but it was stressful. Got to meet quite a few of the performers. Avett Brothers before they were big, Solomon Burke before he passed away, Lovett and Hiatt, etc. Arlo Guthrie complained about our piano (lol too small for the space), I introduced Neko Case from the stage when our normal MC was sick, spent half a day trying to find Ron White's bottle of Blue Label from our local liquor stores. Most fun evening was after Jeff Dunham's performance, nicest guy ever, invited the whole crew to share a bottle of tequila at the end of the night. He was probably my favorite.
