Most everyone paid attention to Rafer being traded for Vince but I think Courtney Lee and Ryan Anderson sort of went unnoticed in the deal. I think they are both great players, different players but both great. Ryan Anderson 6'10, 240LBS, 21 Years Old Reminds me a better Kirelenko in that he plays with energy, can hit three's all day, hustle, and great touch around the basket. He's an odd combination of great shooting range and being very physical down low. Usually its one or the other like Okur who has great range but it kind of soft. These two players are good. Anderson is a good shooter and Lee will be a good fit next to Devin. What I feared for Magic fans happened and why I think it isn't a good trade: You traded Lee (starting SG), let Hedo (starting SF) go, and gave up a potential starter at PF/backup C in Battie (as Orlando can't afford to keep Gortat) for Carter & Anderson There's too many losses than benefits. Of course, the Magic needed to get better if they wanted to win the 'ship but I doubt they make it far in the playoffs next season as I think they took a step back by losing their best playmaker. My prediction is at best: lose in the ECF.
anderson and lee both fit much better with their new teams. anderson reminds me of scott padgett, but has upside to be as good as troy murphy (as far as rebounds and 3's are concerned).
Been watching summer league games and Ryan Anderson is DOMINATING. Very impressed by his Defense and aggressiveness around the basket. It's summer league but I see a bright future on the magic for him.
Condescending much? When the trade went through was the first thing that came to your mind about Anderson and Lee? It was probably about Vince Carter replacing Hedo on the Magic. The point is that two really good players went unnoticed in the trade.
I disagree. I think a lot of people knew the trade was very risky simply because the Magic were dealing Lee. Anderson, I can agree with. I didn't even know he had been included. But Lee, everyone knew the trade has the potential for disaster since he was HUGE for them last season.
