I am usually a very strict sports only type of video gamy player with an occasion shooting game thrown in. My brother in law said there is an older game called counterstrike which is very fun to play. When I tried to look for it online there is a million different things that come up related to something called half life. Can someone point me to what I need to buy to play this counterstrike game? If I embarrassed myself with my question, sorry, I usually am a big Madden guy.
ok, all you have to do is download steam, and pay for the game via creditcard. to do this, go to www.steampowered.com download steam, install it, go to games, right click on the game you want and select purchase. Counter-strike alone should be $10 because it is quite an old game. As of now i am playing Half Life 2 and its the best 40 bucks i have spent in a while. If you want to try halflife2 before you buy, im pretty sure you can download the demo free off of steam.
Half-Life was a hit FPS (First Person Shooter) that came out in 1998 and was an instant hit. It's developers (Valve software) gave gamers free roam with the game including development tools for gamers to make their own mods (modifications) of the game. The most popular modifications taht were made were as follows: Team Fortress Classic - The first "Mod" for the Half-Life series that was released by Valve... a team/class based FPS that uses CTF (capture the flag) gameplay. Day of Defeat - A WWII era team based/class based FPS with one side being axis and the other side being allies... game modes vary depending on the map. Counter-Strike - A modern team based FPS with one side being terrorists and the other side being counter terrorists. Day of Defeat (also known simply as DoD) and Counter-Strike (known as CS) became hugely popular, so popular in-fact that their rights were bought by Valve and are now published by valve as Mods/Expansions for Half-Life 2. The beauty of CS is that it is still a VERY popular game even though it is nearly 8 years old... and addicting as hell. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life_(game)
counter strike is da shizzle. anyways, you can download it straight from steam for a fee of course, i would suggest get source, much better graphics.
Counter-strike is a FPS, what you are describing sounds more like a Real-time Strategy game. Maybe he meant one of the Command and Conquer games.
watch out for the many kids who play Counterstrike. You will not find more prepubescent dipsh!ts and @$$holes online working together in a collective unit to pissing you off. If you are one of the aforementioned kids, I sincerely wish you die by a swift kick to the face by noneother. Bruce Bowen
