Does anyone think we can get Marc jackson for Hakeem in Golden State. Marc is having a great year. I think he would fit well. He is putting up good numbers in GS.

Well, for starters you're about $16M apart in salary so GS would have to throw in a ton of filler salaries that the Rockets probably wouldn't want.

And plus if Dream can't land in Vancouver he would then like to play for a contender. The
teams I think we can get the most from are the Suns and Grizz. Everyone else will offer bench players.

Why try to trade for him now, when he is a free agent this summer. The only issue is, since he was drafted in 1997, but didn't play until this year, the NBA has to rule whether he is restricted or unrestricted. It just depends on what CBA his contract is under.

As aelliott said, Hakeem to GS for Jackson and a ton-o-scrubs to fill in the salary gap is extremely unlikely.

Okay, there's this thing, the Collective Bargaining Agreement. If we trade away $16 million in salary, we have to take about that much back.

Problem: Hakeem isn't worth $16.5 million. Few other teams have players with huge contracts and little to contribute. Big Country. Juwon Howard. Funny, we don't want them either.

We would like to trade for a nice young player of equal value, but those guys aren't getting paid $16 million. We would have to take tons of other players as 'filler' to complete the trade. See: Scottie Pippen trade.

Couldn't the Rockets get themselves involved in some sort of three way between Vancouver and Chicago? The Bulls want Reeves and they have some fillers they can throw our way. We could end up getting something like Shareef, Harrington, and Artest. That way we dont have to end up with the huge contract Reeves has. If we are to get a trade done, it would be best to get more teams involved.
