Saw some trade speculation on a forum about Al Harrington coming to Houston,,

Trade proposed.. Al Harrington + Tony Delk

    to Houston for ..

    S. Swift + D. Wesly + 1st Round 2006 pick ( top 10 protected )

I would pull the trigger on this deal..if Harrington is healthy.. ( I think he had a MRI a few weeks ago ) He can produce at the 3 / 4 position and gives us another legitmate offensive weapon..

Only issue is that he is a FA after this season and will definitely want to get paid..

Changed the thread title to be purely speculative. Please don't post stuff from other message board sites on here.

I doubt we give up Wesley and a 1st. I would think the deal we are after is Swift, Anderson, and perhaps a 2nd for Harrington and then maybe offer them the TE for Delk to get them to do the deal.

What more are other teams going to be willing to offer for an expiring contract?? I don't think we want to turn loose of Wesley or the pick either, unless we get something more substantial than Al's expiring contract.

Tony Delk is(was) a solid scorer off the bench.

I'd easily do Swift an Anderson plus a #2 for Harrington. I'd consider giving up the TE for Delk as well. Good scorer off the bench at the point (where we happen to have no backup)

After looking at his stats more closely, what is so special about the guy? Under 7 rebounds a game. Doesn't sound the ideal PF we've dreamed of...

Al Harrington has a lot of talent. He's much more consistent than Swift. I dont know how effective he could be at the PF spot, but he can be a very nice 3.

Unfortunatley that's one position where we don't need help.

He's not. Those guys are in San Antonio and Detroit. He's not going to be the big, bruising 4. He would be the offensive threat that we need that can ring up 30 on any given night and 15-20 on most nights. But he would allow us to go more for defense at the 2 spot. We would also need to pick up the big banger type 4 at some point to eat up the glass. Running him at the 3 with TMac at the 2 would be interesting to see how it would work. Running him at the 4 would work against teams like Phoenix a whole lot better than running Juwan out there.

It would basically give us a chance to erase Swift's contract, along with a lot of flexibility to add a primary piece this offseason if he winds up not fitting in here or not liking it here. If Chicago or one of the other teams goes after him hard, then we may be able to work a nice S&T that would give us more of what we are looking for, then use the MLE to get another piece.

He is a skilled offensive player whom J.O'Neal wanted back in Indy because Jermaine claimed he would add defense. He's just not played defense this year. Probably he's on a team that he can get away with doing that. He's in his contract year and has that kind of leverage. Same thing was said about TMac in Orlando.

All the same, I'd still prefer to get a player like Miles, more of a swing man and then try to pick up Evans somehow.

Dude, I usually respect your posts, but your man-crush for Miles is embarrassing.

He's not all that. Let it go, big chief. There's other men out there for you to crush on, really. ;).

Hey, I don't have to have him. So, let's get Pieterus, what you say?

How about Mo Pete and Pape Sow for Stro?

I put Harrington in the same boat as Shard. Athletic scoring forwards that would could certainly give us a boost offensively, but you have to be skeptical in regards to how they would fit in.

We could've used a fast 4 to counteract the Small lineups produced by the suns, mavs etc.
