that could happen - but so could a lot of things in life.

For me, the Suns are still gonna be hard to beat in that category.

Personally I just wanna see a good balance of O and D... Ideally like to see us average about 105 PPG a game while holding teams to about 90 PPG.

It's just preseason, opponents are not really playing their real coached-up defenses against us. Don't expect 60point halves as the norm. We could very well be over a hundred per game, but I doubt we surpass Phoenix. But, crazier things have happened.

However, if we just manage to raise our scoring by maybe ten per game, and still keep our defense maybe top-ten caliber, man, wow, this team is going to win a LOT of games.

i cant see us outscoring phoenix. but for what its worth in 04-05 we averaged 84.1 ppg in the preseason. for 05-06 88.3 ppg that preseason. for 06-07 it was 91.1 ppg. this preseason we are at 105 ppg thru 4 games.

Don't too excited about the scores. The opposite teams except Hornet are WNBA teams. And Rockets lost to Hornet.

I think it's possible top 5. And also the discrepancy of lead is going to be HUGE just because the Rockets play defense.

One thing is for certain, we'll have a much better offense than last season under JVG. Bottom line is as long as the final score reads we have more points than the opposing team then we'll all be happy. The points will come and our defense might also take a bit of a hit since there'll be more posessions out there

They lost to Hornets because after taking a huge lead with the starters in first half...Rick chose to play around with scrubs afterward.

Here is my conservative etimation on how many points each player in our rotation will avge. i see yao and tracy staying around the same.

    Yao 24 points
    Scola 9 points
    Battier 11 points
    Tracy 24 points
    Alston 9 points
    77 for the starters

    Bench

    Wells 10 points
    James 9 points
    Francis 9 points
    Head 8 points.

Thats a 113 without deke or hayes. i say deke 2 points at the max and hayes 4 points. thats around a 118. however, even i'm having a hard time believing 118 is possible. but on paper we could easily avge that...

    Good estimates.

I expect McGrady's and Yao's scoring to go down though with all the other weapons. It would also probably be better for McGrady's back if he didn't have to give us 24 a game with Francis and Wells always a threat to go off for 20 each themselves.

What is more important is average point differential, which in the past has been a very good predictor of success (the Spurs, for example led the league in point differential and won the championship last year). They don't need to have the highest scoring offense, but if they can average a point diff. of around +8/+9, it's going to be very difficult to stop them from winning it all.

how about top 5 offense and top 3 defense?

if we have that, we'll be the best team.

Hey what a great point, I wish I would have thought of that, about 3 or 4 posts earlier.

    ;)

    Just kidding.
