.........Charles Barkley never went out. If he would have never went out and stockton never hitting that 3, i think we definately had a chance at Jordan and them.

3rd World Championship deteriorated right before us....

This thread will go the same as every other "could the Rockets have beaten the Bulls?" thread.

You'd need to find an unbiased opinion, and you certainly won't find one on a Rockets board.

For the record though, I don't think they could have beat any of the Bulls' championship teams.

i think you might mean the 96-97 season when the Rockets won 57 games that season. That was the first season the Rockets had Charles Barkley.

Are you talking about the season when it was Clyde's last year, and we took the Jazz to five games in the first round?

I still think the Rockets would have taken the Bulls to 7 games.

Would we have beaten the Bulls?

    Hmmm. Sure.

No! Because Hakeem had given in as a serious player in deference to Charles Barkley. He didnt play the same after Charles arrived.

It's called, Hakeem's skill were in decline by the time Charles arrived.

    The 98 Rockets?

No, the 95 Rockets were the best Rocket team ever, regardless of the average yearly record.

If Drelxer had started with the Rocket in training camp. We should have ended with a 55 or better season.

Plus, we had Chucky Brown! :D The "Barkley Stopper!"

The 94-95 Rockets would have beaten the Bulls. Mad Max had MJ's number(relatively speaking). Max was the only player who could get in MJ's face and stay with him. That took away some of Jordan's effectiveness. Now we've taken some of the edge away from their superstar & the Bulls had nothing to slow down Hakeem. Jordan & Quitten liked to drive the middle, but they didn't like having their shots swatted away ala Hakeem & Thorp. That's why the Rockets always did well against the Bulls in the Jordan years.

The Rockets would have big trouble to break the Bulls pressure defense in playoff time. When the Bulls at their peak, their defense was so good, they made it look like 6 or 7 players against 5. There is no way the Rockets could have beaten the Bulls at their peak.

    But, we'll never know, right?;)

That depends whose side were the refs gonna be on.

It would've been as good as the Laker Celtic rivalries.

I guess they never played each other for a reason

Bulls would have won. MJ would not have allowed losing to any team.

I apologize for every time I wrote you're not a real Rockets fan. I can't believe so many fans didn't see this, Hakeem wasn't the same player when Barkley arrived.

You notice that Bulls fans never wonder if they would have beaten the Rockets in the Finals. They seem to do a good job of moving on with their lives...

    ??? Ok.... ???

Why don't you just say we could have beaten the last 20 champions in the last 20 years?

I mean why stop there? You're on a roll!

This thread is sounding more and more like the old Saturday Night Live skits about the Bears fans.

"The New York Giants vs. Ditka. Who would win?"
    "Ditka"
    "Ditka"
    "Ditka"
    "DIIIIT-KA"

I hate when people say "the Rockets could have beaten the Bulls...". My question is: If they could have beaten the Bulls, WHY DIDN'T THEY!?!?

There's no point in saying you could have beaten someone, when it's already been proven that you DIDN'T! The Rockets didn't even make it to the championship to play against the Bulls, so what makes you think they could beat the Bulls?
