They have 10 games left and are only 2 games ahead in the loss column of Phoenix. They also have games against Phoenix, GS, Memphis, and the Clippers on their schedule. Maybe we can get LMA in the off-season.
It would be an epic collapse for a team to be the 2nd or 3rd seed (cant remember) at the all-Star break and go on to miss the playoffs entirely. All the other top 8 seeds are playing pretty well, so this could very well happen. While LMA missing time is part of it all, their downward spiral began before this.
I hope not, and the probably won't , but they'll end up being a bottom seed. I hope they can stay at 6 and the rockets can jump to 3. We need to be 1 game ahead of LAC because they hold the tiebreaker.
It'll be close and could come down to the last game or two of the season. Looking at all 3 teams' schedules, the Mavs seem to have the hardest path towards making the playoffs.
Depends on LMA. If he comes back full-strength, they make it. If not, well......they are 3-7 over their last 10 games and this.... Tiebreakers 1-2 vs Phoenix 1-2 vs GSW 0-2 vs Memphis 1-2 vs Dallas It may even be likely that they won't make it....
It was virtually tied, we had the tie breaker over them and LAC was a division leader. LAC had the worst record out of the 3 at that point.
In any case, they were the 2nd or 3rd seed the better part of the first half of the season, and it doesn't happen often that such a team misses the playoffs.
I don't know. They have enough home games and lightweight opponents left that you'd think they can eek out at least 50 wins which should get them in. Then again they did lose to the Lakers in Portland a few weeks ago and nearly lost to the Bucks in OT at home the other night, so anything's possible.
Not to mention that it would be devastating to their franchise. Going from #2-3 in the WC just a month ago to potentially out of the playoffs in a couple of weeks. Aldridge has been their only significant injury and he's only been out the last 7 games. Looks like they are a .500 team without LMA....pretty remarkable actually.
Yes. The way Dallas played to beat OKC last night and the way that Phx has played with Bledsoe back indicate that Portland has its work cut out for it to stay in the playoffs. Phoenix is 2.5 games behind Portand. Portland has tough games coming up against ATL, CHI, Mem, Phx, NO, GS and LAC. They could drop 4 of those games and be in a hole. The game against the Lakers in LA will be tough for them too.
Given they are only 2 games ahead in the loss column, and all the teams their competing against own the tie-breakers, in essence, they only have a 1 game cushion.
After reading Blazersedge comments after our recent home win over them I'm rooting for a collapse down the stretch
This sucks. Ideally I would like them to finish 5th so we face them because I think we are locked at 4th spot unless Clipps collapse. I'd rather face Portland than GSW, Memphis or even Dallas.
U don't have to explain it to me I have a perfect memory and I know that was the case. I'm just telling u facts about where the two teams were in the standings.
