As many of you know, there are currently tons of free coaching spots available. Some have already been taken, some have not.

Phoenix Sun's D'Antoni is going to the knicks, and Suns themselves claims they'll be looking for a more defensive minded coach. I'm wondering, since there are so many spots available right now, do you guys think coachless teams like Suns will be pursuing defensive expert coaches like JVG? Afterall, the offensive foundation has been set on the Suns already, just like how defensive foundation has been set on ours.

I feel the Bulls is a good fit for him now.

wth is the marvs? and he already turned down the mavs job.

my bet he sits another year out, his kids are situated in houston and doesn't want to uproot them until they grow up.

Unless the perfect job comes along, I don't see JVG coaching this year. The guy has plenty of incentives to stay doing what he does, namely his family situation, and his sweet gig on TV.

The guy has enough success on the NBA level that really, anything less than a championship-aspiring team is not worthy of his consideration.

The Suns, IMO, are no longer that team. Shaq and Nash are already deteriorating. There's no bench to speak of, and the cap situation is unfavorable. The Bulls need a "players coach" after Skiles, and JVG is not a good fit. No other team is worth it, unless JVG feels that the Hawks have enough talent, and can go somewhere with the right coaching.

Overall, I see JVG sit out and reassess the situation next year.

I (heart) JVG as an analyst he's not afraid to say the obvious or speak out against the refs especially like that one guy on TNT who shows the replays and talks on and on when its obvious weather its a foul or not. He says it like it is

Yeah, but imagine JVG actually making/teaching the Suns on Defense. The Suns would be immediately in the Western Conference elite.

I agree with a poster above that says JVG should and only should go to a team that is already a contender, and not in rebuilding mode (i.e the Bucks)

JVG could make the suns better though, IMO. Only time will tell.

There could be a chance Suns will aquire JVG IMO.
Just like the Rockets, a foundation has already been set for the Suns. D'Antoni has done a good job creating a good offensive game for the Suns, but as the saying goes "Offense wins game, Defensive wins championships". After seeing what RA has done to the Rockets, Kerr and the Suns will probably try to get JVG, and have JVG work on the Sun's defensive without tweaking too much of their offense.

Remember, Suns play great team ball and always revolve around the starters. This is JVG's style of play. I think JVG will also benefit with Steve Nash. Since Steve Nash controls the offense, JVG does not need to worry too uch on that end.

I read somewhere that he doesn't want to coach next year. He refused to even interview for the Mavs job, and that would have been a great fit for him.
