Well I was just looking at the previews for NBA Live 2004 and noticed this in the new Dynasty Mode:

    Now THAT's awesome.

Can you beat that ESPN/Sega lovers?

Also, the logo looks horrid on here:

Even the wrtched Bobcats logo is better.

Oooooohhh, that looks PHAT! I told my son about it and he can hardly wait. It's gonna be good and I have feeling it will make me forget all about how terrible 2003 was.

All the games have flaws that ruin it for me. Madden screwed up the defensive backs, NFL2k4 still has a few things i really don't like but a lot of stuff I do. NBA2k3 was decent.

Live blew balls. God that game was ****ty. No lo post game at all. Back the ball in? Press the flop button. Gay. I could basically coast to coast the ball with Francis all day but that was ****ty and boring. And forget online play, it was nearly impossible to shoot a free throw.

I would always try to play a noncheese game but when ever someone would start pulling cheese on me i would just foul them everytime they had the ball, they couldn't make freethrows. ;)

i'll probably rent both first but nba live has taken a huge backseat for the last 4 years. the graphics and gameplay are just so much better in espn.

How are the graphics better in ESPN!??!?!

I looked at both videos (well all they had) and Live has better graphics.

With the new face-mapping technology, Live's players' faces look real. ESPN's make everyone looked stoned and bug eyed.

ESPN has the jerseys actually swooshing in the players' motion and they apparently will even shine as they sweat.

Now I haven't played either in a long time, but I prefer Live. EA is just a bigger name; plus there are more online users.

Apparently there is a difference between dialup and cable/dsl which affects online play.

I've never actually played an online game on the PS2, so I'm looking forward to it.

Chances are I'll wait until about a week after both come out and read people's review (from ehre and other sites) at which point I'll decide.

But I'll probably still go with Live, as it has been improved so tremendously from years past.

    Gameplay =! Eyecandy

When will developers realize that graphics should be worked on after gameplay has been tested again and again?

Mr. Mooch, you sound like the back of a video game case. I'm sure EA love$ your undying support.

The 2k series was nice, but hasn't improved enough to my liking. It's gotten stale.

Live has just about always sucked.

They both pale in comparison to the football games, which sucks cuz I'd rather have a good bball game.

i don't know i just like the look of espn better. apparently each player's head will be uniquely molded but imo it probably won't look much different from 2k3. those live shots might as well have been taken from last year as well.

the most important aspect will be which makes a bigger improvement in gameplay. that's the one i'll get.

Man, NBA Live 2004 looks damn good. I can't wait to get it. I hope they fixed the flaws from 2003.

I liked the game overall, but the ting that pissed me off to the point of not wanting to play it anymore (not the fact of not being able to post) was how the game would make me miss lay ups, dunks like 8 times in a row in order to let the computer catch up to me. It is so agrivating. I would be wide f****** open and I would miss the fast break dunk....over and over and over again!

I hope that BS is fixed in 2004.

    Dang, no edit function.

--NBA Live 2004 looks damn good. The best appearence out of any NBA game. BUT I want a game that is going to be fun to play while also looking sharp. I hope they fixed the flaws from 2003.

For Those of you that think Live is better than the 2K series...

I feel sorry for you that you have been deprived of the basic fundemental in video games....

    GAMEPLAY

2K always has had better gameplay... Live isn't good at all

    (except for the franchise mode)

    These features are pretty sweet;

My favorite is the improved trading where now you can use draft picks. I also like the little added animations like the draft and showing recently traded players walking into the locker room and meeting the team. Nice. I may wait till 2005 though.

I love how everyone takes this stuff personal. "You don't like my game? You're a moron, your game sucks!"

Some people live Live, some like ESPN. Count me in on the group that likes Live. Sure, it was more of an arcade, but that was better than 2K3's offensive plans. Never could get a clean moving offense with 2K3. Plus, I found if you mess with some of the sliders on Live, you get a damn realistic game. Besides, the freestyle control was fun, provided that you didn't use it cheaply (like using it constantly to drive the lane).

Is Pike going to be on the Rockets roster for NBA 2K4? I used to tear it up with him when he was on the Clippers in that series

if you look at all the videos nba live provides (a total of 1 trailer, 1 gameplay, 1 franchise, and 4 or 5 teaching movies with marv albert) ... it looks like gameplay isn't that great still

however, if u're a PC user like me, u 1) have no choice
and 2) hope that the ability to change overall percentages on the league's shots/blocks etc will make gameplay good

i used a patch to make nba live 2003 close to decent in gameplay,... but imo, it was too inherently flawed to make it a good game

Do you think they will have the Rocket's recent moves included in the game? Like Rice being gone, thank god, and Piat/Jackson now on the Rox squad?

This is almost as bad as the blue screen of death right now: [IMG] vBulletin Message

So is 2k4 only for Xbox or what, because I have a Gamecube but I hate Live, I bought 2003, huge mistake. Pretty much what everyone else said about the game, I'll chalk it up to the unrealistic gameplay.
