Sometimes you have to promote within. I watched the summer leagues games from last year, the other day. If this guy can add 25 pounds which he has five months to do so, improve his lateral footwork he is everything we need. He runs like a deer, has and amazing vertical jump. He is 6'11 but wingspan looks longer than Yao. He can hit the open 15 footer and has a few inside moves. Also he rebounds and blockshots like crazy. I read last year he was projected by quite a few to go in the first round, but he was only 19. This year he doesn't play because they no he is going to the Rockets. Hey a good summer program, who knows stranger things have happened.
He can be a player, but I think he needs to be here in the USA learning. I wish they would get the NBDL associated with the NBA so teams can send down players to get experience. DD
No, lets face it. He is a 2nd round pick that doesnt pan out like just about every other 2nd rounder. He doesnt get any time on his team in germany, and he isnt even in a top league. You guys just have your hopes pinned on a 2nd round pick PF who is raw and not ready to contribute soon. I dont seem him as more then a role player and that is more then a couple years down.
That's the denial of a guilty man! Go directly to jail... Can we just get a Malick Badiane sticky? it won't be a normal sticky, it will just pop up every few weeks for a while to satiate the liquid hot magma of Badianaphilia that lurks beneath the surface. ...
He averaged 3 points and 5 rebounds in Germany this season. I don't think he's going to be playing in the NBA anytime soon.
The answer to the question... "Who the Rockets picked over Kyle Korver"? If that's the question, then yes...he is indeed the answer.
Not in a true minor league way, where you can maintain rights on a player while getting them valuable experience. DD
u never know....he might be able to hellp us. think about cuttino mobley, ginobli, ronald murray. most likley he will never contribute
Could it be two reasons? One, they know Badman is going to play in the NBA and doesn't want to waste time develop him. Two, the euro game favors offensively polished players than good defensive players. Imagine Kelvin Cato in the German league, how many minutes would he average? Maybe he'd haul down a lot of boards there, but will they play him much because he is a complete liability on offense? I'm impressed with Badman's attitude and physical tools, with 15 more pounds he'll have a legit NBA body, which is pretty much all that Cato has. But Badman has a few moves and a decent jumper, and is more atheletic than Cato is at the 4. If we can stick Cato at the 4, it's a no brainer to not give up on Badman. Badman should be given a chance to develop in the USA, at least in the summer league and NBDL.
