I know there are some UH guys on this board. For that matter anyone in Houston is invited... I am emceeing (i like typing that out instead of MC'ing) Cougar Idol this Thursday in Cullen Performance Hall...I think that's what the venue is called. The University of Houston asked me to do this...kinda American Idol spinoff...Thursday night (the 24th) at 7. My band, Pulltab, will be playing along with Cellcyst (a hard rockin' local band) and Tow Down...the guy that sings Chicken Fried Steak and the Rich Girl redo. Prelims will be Tues and Wed. During Prelims the people will sing a 30 to 45 second unaccompanied piece. There will be a group of student/faculty judges that will select 4-6 finalists each day for a total 0f 10-12 for Thursday. Then Thursday the finalists will sing an accompanied piece and some local celebrity judges will vote on the winner. Lance Zierlein is judging along with Something J from 104, a power dancer, and some other folks that I can't remember. You guys come out if you can. It'll be the first performance of Pulltab as a full band (except Kevin..he's gone until next week). We are doing three songs...The 80s, This is a Song, and a version of Yao Ming that will freak you guys out. It's a shocker. So please come. Also on the 17th of May we will be playing a gig at Ragin' Cajun on Westheimer and Gessner. All 5 of us will be playing and it will be about a 2 hour set. A bunch of local media people (TV, radio, chronicle) and pro athletes will be there so it might be a good time to people watch. Plus my band focking stomps.
