How long does it take for this damn cortizone shot to start working?! I had my shoulder MRI'd and it turns out that I have mild to moderate degenerative changes. i.e. arthiritis. as well as fluid in the joint and a pressure on a particular muscle. I got a cortizone shot with painkiller in it at about 3:00, but now my shoulder seems to be hurting more...anyone have any experience with this?
Well, meggoleggo has a form of arthritis and has to periodically get those shots and she told me it can take up to 24 hours for her to feel a difference sometimes. Try some more painkillers, that cortizone is some sort of steroid I believe, and shouldn't directly relieve the pain...it just reduces swelling and subsequently helps ease the pain or something like that.
First of all, you have got to stop punching your students in the face. Punching your students cause arthiritis. Never had a cort shot, so I don't know.
The doc added some pain killer to the shot to help ease the pain. I noticed that it was quite a bit of med that he injected and I'm hoping that maybe the medicine hasn't been completely absorbed yet, creating pressure on the muscle around the bubble of medicine.
A few hours, but my last one was in the right knee. Maybe the shoulder is different. All I know is that the actual shot itself hurt like a sonuvabitch, jabbing a big ass needle into my knee.
