Hey guys what's up; I have a confession: I am addicted to corny movies. Thinking recently about what my favorite movies are I figured out they have fatal horrible endings or they were just goofy. Luckily for you all today I took my medication so I won't drag you down with a seriously boring movie debate. Just wanted to know what you guys on the board around my age (25)
who experienced alot of the cheesiness that was the 80's could come up with as far as top 5 corny movies and one liners from those films.

    I'll get us started:

    1> Groundhog Day

2> I'm Gonna Get you Sucka!
"There's only two ways outta here.................."
The gunfight scene with Kung-Fu Joe

    3> Pee Wees Big Adventure
".............The Alamo doesn't have an basement....."
"............and when they finally pulled the driver from the burning, twisted wreck............."

    4> Major League
    " Just a bit outside"

    5> Robocop

    Honorable mentions
    Airplane
Any thing with Cheech and Chong
    The Running Man
    National Lampoon's......
    CaddyShack

Eventhough I don't qualify for the age requirements, I just have to say that Major League is not a corny movie, and Ueck's line is hilarious.

Yeah, I don't really see what is so corny about Groundhog Day or Major League.

Anything with Bill Murray in it is corny(and hillarious I might add)
    Scrooged anyone?

And I don't mean to exclude anyone based on age but if you can remember back to Airplane or Blazing Saddles please by all means respond to the thread and let's get some one-liners or memorable scene responses.

Joey: Hey! I know you! You're Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, you play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers!
Roger Murdock: I'm sorry, I think you have me confused with someone else, my name is Roger Murdock.
Joey: You are Kareem! I've seen you play! My dad's got season tickets.
Roger Murdock: I think it's time to go back to your seat, right Clarence?
Oveur: No, let him stay. He's not bothering anyone.
Joey: I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense.
Roger Murdock: THE HELL I DON'T! Look, I'm out there bustin' my butt EVERY NIGHT. Tell your old man to run up and down the court for forty minutes!

Corny to me has a bit more of a negative connotation, like "stupid" and "unfunny."

Websters defines it as "mawkishly old-fashioned : tiresomely simple and sentimental"

None of that defines Spinal Tap, Major League, Caddyshack, Airplane, etc.

Also, I've heard and used the term corny when talking about sappy romantic or feel good family movies.

    I see your point..

Most people today must not use the word corny in that way though...because I keep hearing it used to decribe something that is silly or over the top...

Just goes to show, sometimes words change meanings as time goes on.

I found that to be one of the funnier parts too, outlaw.

I hope no one is saying Major League, Spaceballs, and Airplane are bad movies, as far as I'm concerned they're all classics.

I need to watch that movie again...but doesnt Jabbar throw in a couple of NBA names into that rant?
    something like...
" Look, I'm out there bustin' my butt EVERY NIGHT. Tell your old man to run up and down the court with someone and someone for forty minutes!

Its been a while since I have watched Airplane, so my memory is fuzzy..

hmm. no love for Moses Malone? He was the league MVP in 1979 the year before Airplane was released.

    Is this the correct dialogue?

Joey: I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't
work hard enough on defence. And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try . . . except during the playoffs.

Murdock: The hell I don't!! ( grabs joey by collar ) LISTEN KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Denier(Lanier?) up and down the court for 48 minutes.
