I'm sure most of you old bastards won't care, but for all you Rage Against the Machine fans I just heard on the radio that Chris Cornell has left the band. They didn't say why, but this sucks. Come back Zach!!!!
Yea i heard bout it a few days ago. I am interested to see how their one album they conducted. Should be interesting to hear.
i don't know how many of you remember this and i don't have a link to back this up, but there should be something on MTV.com about it, because that's where i saw it for myself. just about a month or so prior to Chris's annoucement to leave the band. Tom Morello went public about some issues reguarding some of his policial beliefs. i wasn't really paying any attention to what those issues were....but he made them at some sort of press conferance. i don't know wheather he called it or it was some sort of coperate sponsored or what...i don't know about that. ...a few days latter i read in the chronicle ( i think ) a response to his comments by an IRS or DOJ official that they were keeping files on all the members of the band and that they knew of them and that some of the groups that they support are terrorist organizations. they are being watched but are not nessessarly involved to there knowledge at this time in terrorist activities. a couple of weeks latter.......Chris quit. Tom better be careful........Rage kicks A**! i respect that he stands up for people who may or may not be able to stand for themselves or corporations running over poor and what not, but i'm an americian and i love my country and i respect his right to speak his mind on what he believes, but if he defends terrorist groups or supports them in any way.....i don't care how talanted his is.....i won't listen to Rage again if this proves out to be true....and i don't know that it is right now........but that is what i know right now, myself...
4play, they may be talking about the Zapatistas in Mexico. Rage has supported them for years, along with many other causes. Rage is a band ABOUT political views, and Chris knew that when he signed on. If he wanted some band that wasn't going to make waves he should've joined N'Sync.
oh i totally agree...i have no problem with controvertial political agenda's perse, but in light of sept. 11th.....common sense has to be applied. i think rock n' roll music is a great vehicle for bring to light things that are wrong in our society or hypocricities etc. i was just relaying what info i was aware of.....i think i saw that press conferance with Tom on MTV news on T. V. , it might be on there web site somewhere........it was within the last two months for sure. i'm totally stoked about the album coming out and i still love the three Rage albums, but Tom needs to do a little research or soul searching before opens his mouth again.
I always wondered what they were 'raging' against. They (at least some of them) somehow found a way to get into Harvard, so either the government gave them money to do so, or their parents had the money for it. What are you Raging against again? Cornell has too much talent for those guys anyway.
I don't think for one second there is a mismatch of talent they are just so completely different I can't imagine what made them get together in the first place
Same exact thing I thought when they first announced Cornell was going to front for them. Guess they thought they could make it work. Are you saying Rage is talentless? And just so I know where you are coming from, would you say you are knowledgable regarding Rage's body of work? Because I find it hard to believe that anyone who has heard Morrellos guitar work would consider them talentless.
Why is Rage talentless? Just because you like one kind of music more than the other does not mean the latter is talentless.
Isn't this kind old news?? I first heard about it about 2-3 weeks ago. Initially the new "Rage" was going to be on the OzzFest tour with the likes of System of a Down. Oh well. At least they are going to put out their album(so I hear).
