Jeff's "New Toy" thread spun this topic off. What's the coolest birthday gift you have ever received? Tara gave me a set of Cobra R Rims for my car after I had just finished getting the Mustang body fixed and repainted.
many years ago, when I was with my ex-gf, she gave me the coolest birthday gift... and there's no way in the world I would be allowed to describe it here. conversely, last month, for my birthday, my wife gave me.... no gift at all. -- droxford
That may be my favorite. I got my Taylor on my birthday back in '97. Still my favorite guitar. However, this birthday I'm getting a new piece of gear that I'm really hoping I enjoy. TopHat Club Deluxe 2x12. Class A point-to-point cathode self biasing 20 watt beauty! Already got it (a week & a half early). Already swapped out tubes (yeah, I'm a gear nerd). Already ordered a custom cover which should be arriving any day now. Look out world, here comes TONE!
Last year my GF bought me a trip to Vegas..then took me to the Moonlight Bunny Ranch for a night cap...well not really..but she did get me a trip to Vegas, which was awesome
My history teacher, when I was in the 7th grade, ordered one of those HUGE-O PopCorn bags you see at the candy stores only (about 3 feet tall). I said: "Is that for me? It IS my birthday, you know." Well, what do you know, the teacher said: "If you don't want it and don't want me to give it to you now to share with the class, just tell me." I ended up sharing with the class. I was SHOCKED.
We couldn't afford tickets to alot of Rocket games when we first moved back down here 9 years ago, so my wife promised me for my birthday each year that there would always be money available to buy tickets to the home game closest to my b-day. The "Birthday-Game" gets circled on the calendar every year now when the schedule comes out.
My girlfriend is HELLA CHEAP, but it makes up for all the money I save all year because she wont let me spend any on her also...Best gifts I got from her one of each of my top 5 cigars...
Once this girl I was having the dreaded "Internet Relationship" with scoured eBay and got me this vintage Dio "Holy Diver" tour t-shirt from 1983. As the world's only Dio fan, I was incredibly stoked and was skinny enough at the time to squeeze into this 20-year-old t-shirt occassionally. I got more "Holy ****!" comments wearing that thing around campus than I ever have before, and I COLLECT stupid t-shirts. Of course, she would later go on to break my heart, as all Internet Relationships are doomed to end, but **** man, that t-shirt is still awesome.
When I turned 14 my older brother got me a whole card binder page full of rare Hakeem cards. It was awesome.
