I am going to visit my girlfriend (who, if you remember, is working in Chicago this summer) for the next week or so starting tomorrow. I remember getting a lot of really helpful feedback last time. So where are some of the cool places to visit, things to do, and good places to eat at? I've been to Chicago a bunch as a kid, but haven't been to anywhere special except you know like Sears Tower, Art Institute, etc. Thanks!
The Taste of Chicago is running through either Sunday or Monday. I think the Counting Crows are playing Grant Park on Sunday at the Taste. It gets crowded, but its still fun to go once or twice. Do the museum campus, including Shedd and Science & Industry. Hit up a Cubs game (be prepared to shell out some cash). If you are old enough for bars (sorry don't know your age), there are some good night life places, depending on your style. Chicago in the summertime is all about beer gardens and spending time hanging out at one of the Lake Michigan beaches. But stay away from the city's fireworks. Far far too many people. edit: good website for general chicago goings on and reviews - metromix.com
They play some kickass blues in Chicago, as weird as it sounds. Check out listings...used to be you could find Muddy Waters, B.B. King and the like playing at local joints. I'm sure there's still some sweet stuff going on there.
Why does that sound weird? Are you referring to blues being kickass, or the fact that they play it in Chicago?
