Anyone else a huge fan? I have 51 60 100+ pairs of All-Stars. I recently discovered a few ways to get them cheap. 1. Tanger Outlet Mall in Texas City has a Converse store. Their Chucks are stupid cheap, and half of the store is clearance. They run bogo sales on the clearance almost all of the time, too. I've gotten to know the manager and he said there are people who drive in from hundreds of miles to buy truckloads to sell overseas. 2. Slickdeals deals. I have an alert for Converse and get an email as soon as a sale hits. With these two resources, I rarely pay more than $20 per pair. I will go up to $30 if I really love the color or print but never over. I'll post some pics later. Chime in if you're a fan like me and @mikol13 I'll also post deals I find in this thread. 2022 update: Due to the pandemic, inflation and supply issues. these deals are few and far between these days. A 'deal' on Converse All-Stars is around $35-$40 now.
There's a sale today (8/29/2020) that I got an alert from on Slickdeals. The real question is do you clean your chucks? I don’t.. unless they got mud on them or something but other than that, dirty chucks is THE look. I’ll keep a pair for a couple years before I toss them but they have to be shredded and beat up.
Yeah, I wipe them off if they get smudged. I'm not a shoeshine boy with them but I like to keep them clean.
Chuck 70s are my jam now that I'm an old man. Better construction and cushioning for my tired old dogs. They don't go on sale often though for the classic colors, so it took a while to find them at a bargain.
I've been wanting some slip ons but not sure what size (11-12 depending on shoe). All Star Disrupt CX are cool but sold out.
I go more for the Jack Purcell. I have 5 pair. 2 “fancy” pair, 2 regular solid color and one pair which I use for yard work ( they have to be at least 10 years old so I demoted them but they do make a great yard work shoe)
All we need is the Dickies Fan Thread, White Tube Sock Fan Thread, Blue or Red Bandana Fan Thread, Slicked Back Hair Under Hairnet Fan Thread, and Locs Fan Thread to complete the outfit.
I used to get a pair of chucks for $10-$19.99 at Oshman's Sporting Goods next to Superior Waterbeds when I was a kid. Got my very first skateboard there too and busted my face on their sidewalk after hitting the first of what would be many more pebbles in my life....good times thanks for the tip
