I urge every true fan of the Rockets who is not wiling to put up with these rediculous fees and parking policy to contact the Rockets via e-mail in large numbers to complain about their practices. Be sure to mention that as taxpayers we feel that we are being treated unfairly and almost being told "you are unwelcome here" by the Rockets Organization with all these fees and especially the parcking. There is power in numbers, so may be we can make a change there.

I especially encourage calling popular radio shows like 610 Marc Vandermeer's morning show and other local broadcasts to bring up this issue.

Anyone know how much parking will be for games? I already heard about the $11.50 fee for tickets, ridiculous.

There's an entire thread that does just that, complain. Done.

Tim listened to us, gave us a classy reply that was thoughtful and fair, and even lowered certain ticket prices. Where Tim couldn't lower prices, he showed us some appropriate benchmarks--turns out that the Rockets tickets and parking situation is on par, or better, with the Mavericks and Spurs. I work in Marketing, deal with a ton of customer service, and that was one of the best such-responses I have ever seen.

And Tim posted after midnight on a Friday, no less. Remember, for us, cc.net is goofing off, a distraction from work and school and the like. For Tim, this is work (rewarding though it may be). that's dedication.

Geeze. What more d'ya guys want?

(Tim, 'fess up. All of these late nights have nothing to do with the new building----it's all JVG's influence, right? ;) I just had a pretty funny visual of JVG storming through the halls of Rockets headquarters, asking why the graphic designer is wasting time on a coffee break.)

Actually I am not interested in complaining, I am interested in us taking unified action by calling local stations (TV or Radio or BOTH) and complaining about things such as parking (which is least they can do as complimentary for taxpayers!) I am not asking for games to be free, I am just asking for some goodwill and appreciation from the Rockets ORganization to the taxpayers and citizens of this city whom have backed the new arena and were willing to pay some extra dough out of the pocket even in tough economic times just to keep our beloved Rockets happy. This is actually for the good of the Rockets Org since if they keep practicing such dumb things as "PArking for Wealthy only!" then they will eventually alienate their fans along with the fact that they have not won in over 5 years!

Ok, if you guys had been paying attention you'd see that, with the exception of the small elitest garage, the Rockets have nothing to do with parking around the stadium. Try researching a bit before complaining.

That is very true i have a place in downtown and parking is just something we all have been battling here. The owners of the parking lots are not going to sell and the owners of vacant lots will not sell for cheap money. They basically run the show when it comes to parking down here...that is the whole idea with the Rail coming in, supposed to get rid of parking problems as well as congestion. No business down here in downtown likes the parking situation, valet company and parking lot owners. They have done nothing but ruin things down here by charging people 15 - 20 bucks to park in their lots during prime times and during Baseball games, and im sure we will see the same thing with the Rockets.

you know houston being fair compared to other cities still doesnt make it right, but this is a losing battle so just friggen carpool and gripe all the way to the game about it, then when you are at the game you will have it out of your system and can enjoy the game....hopefully

The parking garage across the street with the skywalk connecting to Toyota Center is not owned by Toyota Center?

I am confused with the parking situation:

    1. How much will it cost to park in the main garage?
    2. Is that garage privately owned?

I still don't understand the parking complaint. What do you think the city is going to do - build another parking garage on the taxpayer dime so we can pay less for parking to a game? You think the Rockets are going to buy up 25 surface lots just so we don't have to pay to park?

Just let it go. The convenience of Compaq Center parking is never coming back.

The parking garage and Toyota Center are owned by the Harris County Houston Sports Authority. The Rockets lease both buildings. The city receives all revenues from the parking garage for non-arena-related events (i.e. daytime, George R. Brown parking, etc).

Currently, parking for the arena for games is limited only to suite and club seat ticket holders on a first-come-first-serve basis. As far as I know, they haven't stated how it will work if there are spaces remaining after they sell those spaces.

There are 2500 spaces in the garage which will not come close to handling all of the necessary event spaces. As a result, those without pre-paid parking will have to park in surrounding private surface lots. The prices for those lots range from $3 on the other side of downtown to $20 across the street from the building.

You can get $5 parking within about 3 blocks of the arena.
