[Console Wars] PS3 has finally surpassed Xbox 360 in total sales

    This is cool considering Xbox 360 had an entire year's head start, and Sony was doing poorly the first couple years into the system. But the PS3 Slim redesign and new branding definitely turned things around, and Xbox has become super stale relying on Kinect and only a bunch of sequels while Sony has released newer IPs.

    I know this probably doesn't matter much but it's a nice notch for fanboys of Sony, saying that Xbox 360 lost sales-wise despite a year headstart.

    Also, if you ignore the joke that is the Wii which has been dead for like 2 years now, the PS3 was the best console of this generation, in sales, quality of games, and reliability.

    What do you mean by "finally"? Who gives a #(*$# about who outsells whom if your preference is just one over the other? :confused:

    SRSLY speaking, too, why not just buy what you want after you've done your research, and be done with it? :p

    You know what console I have, but I'm not "happy" or saying "oh, thank you, Video Game Gods, yippee, we can brag!"... darn it, I just said it. :(

    At this point in the lifecycle, it matters more about how much they're making off games and licensing. There's probably three good years left because neither wants to jump the gun right now.

    Sony and MS dodged a bullet if they rushed out their next gen around this year or next. ARM-based chips is really wrecking the computer industry, and some custom made console would've gone down the toilet in another few years, kinda like how the Vita has been.

    But I didn't expect this news, nor have I been paying attention to it.

    Intel's about to make a big come-back with x86. New i7s and Atoms that have the same TDP as ARM processors while maintaining the power efficiency advantage and desktop compatibility of x86 will be coming out. Frankly, if there's one headline you should take notice from CES, this year, this is it.

    I saw that. They also have this triple gate doohickey for beefier workforce processors.

    The thing about Moore's law though is that if quad core ARMs could reach performance to PS3s in a couple more years, that's a pretty cheap, near-universal, platform right there.

    Intel would have to flip its biz model pretty big to match that. It sounds kinda weird to have a mobile phone with an Intel chip, but that's something they have to jump in, I guess.

    who gives a s***. Yeah I bought something. Sony is soooo cool, yippy!!!!

    Sony has advantage of being Japanese, not too many Japanese kids are buying
    an XBox

    Basically this^ I'm happy the PS3 has done well but I want my Kingdom Hearts 3 and Versus 13. Not 2 sequels to FFXIII :(

    Although I am excited for The Last of Us, and Beyond: Two Souls. Glad they're still pushing out exclusives this late into the ps3 life cycle.

    I don't think so. What exclusives does x360 even have? Can probably name 2 Sony exclusives for every one 360 exclusive minimum. And I'm talking about all games that are regarded as above average, which is a testament to Sony's game development.

    Subtract the people who bought it just for BluRay/NetFlix and I bet you Xbox has more consoles sold to actual gamers.

    I'm a PC gamer and I'll say this, I don't usually play consoles but when I do, it's the PS3 :D.
