I wrote this and rewrote this, trying to play both sides... all of my complaints were against republicans though, so I may as well not hide my apparent bias. A few questions... <u>funeralgate:</u> Given that any democrat that suggests a $50 million dollar investigation into Bush's past b/c of his perjury will look like a fool, I then ask: Which republicans are going to be hypocrites and actually vote for the very thing they sought to destroy? (apparently 95% of them, but that's besides the point) <u>drug war:</u> Clinton's quote about pot usage was pretty asinine... but in S.C., Christian Conservatives slaughtered him for it under the grounds of morality. Their candidate admitted to doing cocaine and not a peep. Hypocrisy? I think so. <u>corporate welfare:</u> Republicans have successfully entwined Christianity into a political tool. Capitalism has seeped into every corner of the world on the cape of Christianity. And preachers such as Robertson, etc. all flock to the republican party. Hell, most Christians in the south think 'republican' and 'christian' are synonymous. What does a beautiful image of a loving GOD or a benevolent leader have to do with the dark possibilities that pure capitalism allows for? Why are Christian Conservatives exclusively Republican? (If abortion were made illegal tomorrow, Robertson et. al. would still be republicans) I've got to go pick up my wife, but what other inconsistent platforms do you see on one side or the other (or in the middle ). ------------------ "Everyone I know has a big but... come on Simone, let's talk about your but."

I guess they can start talking about consistency again after their man loses next week. rm95, good call. The Anita Hill/Paula Jones example is perfect. Partisan perception drives the way in which we interpret everything apparently. In the Paula Jones (Harvey ) example I bought into the reasons why feminists groups weren't giving P.J. her due (her past) but during the Anita Hill thingey, weren't the Republicans also trying to destroy Anita Hill's character (and everyone rushed to protect her from the evil white men)?
