Nothing more enjoyable than a hyperactive little 12 year old fatty gacked out on legal meth bouncing off the walls.

99% of the time I will firmly agree that drugs are the answer, but maybe not in this case.

So, rather than having stronger nutritional guidelines or highly taxing foods that are known as major causes of obesity...... we will just have children have surgeries.

Most parents of obese kids are not going to get the kids surgery or drugs because they are the main problem in the first place.

I don’t know. If they are the problem,
they might actually more likely opt for surgery or drugs instead of lifestyle change.

I know of two family where 1 of their young teen is very obese but the rest of them, parent included, aren’t even slightly obese. Which means for some, it’s not just diet. Those poor kids might want to opt for drugs if nothing else work.

I don't think this is a great idea and I think other solutions should be explored long before we get to surgery and drugs for childhood obesity. I will say the same thing I said about things like puberty blockers and gender reassignment surgery. I wouldn't ban these procedures though as there are cases where the children are so morbidly obese that these are the best options to address that.

In many cases the parents stock the house with nothing but junk food and let their kids sit playing video games all day with no activity eating junk. Either way I would not think it is wise to perform any gastric weight loss surgeries on kids or to give them diabetic medication. Now if they have a hypothyroidism issue then by all means they should get placed on a thyroid hormone supplement. Otherwise feed the kids healthier meals and make them get up and out of the house to get their heart rate up on a regular basis.

My 12 year old told me a kid every day at his lunch drinks a 12oz Redbull (regular is 8)

I asked facetiously if he was in good shape. Got a resounding no.
