From ESPN Chat with Fred Carter -

"roy(houston): Hey Crimedog! What's up with the Rockets. Do you see us slipping out the playoff race or can we stop playing selfish and have a good second half.

<b>Fred Carter: I do seem them slipping out of the playoffs. They lose to good teams. I don't like how they are playing. They play emotionally instead of playing smart. They are looking in the cracked rear view at the Lakers.</b>"

I think he meant to type "They lose to BAD teams." but isn't his comments indicative of what many experienced observers are saying about the Rockets? Can the team afford to ignore these type of observations and stick with trying to hone their present game plan which does seem to be doing the trick??

I am officially worried. We are losing when we don't play with heart and that has been too often. If you get bored beating the Cavs by 2 pts. then make it a goal to beat them by 25. Losing to one of the worst franchises is exceptable, losing to bottom feeders regularly is not.

    Clippers 90-89
    Memphis 114-109
    Clippers 94-83
    Knicks 99-83
    Warriors 86-84
    Atlanta 94-75
    Bulls 100-98
    Cavs??? 105-102

That's eight losses that should have been no brainers.

The consensus among 'knowledgeable observers' prior to the season had the Rockets right where they are -- a bubble playoff team. Someone else just posted a thread from a 'knowledgeable observer' grading the Rockets a 'B' for the year.

Well we better make the playoffs. But that doesn't mean we will. I don't know...we may not make it. :(

Okay. We should have been able to win against Minnesota...and SHOULD HAVE BEAT CAVS. HAS ANYONE EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT LOSING TO THE CAVS?!?!? IT'S A WIN WIN SITUATION. YOU NEVER LOSE TO THE CAVALIERS.

So if we won the past two games....WE COULD HAVE BEEN AT THE #5 spot. Minnesota could have been at #8 and Utah at #7.

Instead...we are way behind at #8.

    And Los Angeles is COMING.

And I am predicting that next week, we will lose to the Utah Jazz TWICE. Their team is as old as granny, but they are MUCH SMARTER AND EXPERIENCED than us. They may be better coached too...

For the first half of the year, I believe the Rockets deserve a C+!!! They are much better than last years...16-33. Heh
