Never seen her show before. Watched it tonight and just came away really irritated. It's only one show, but she strikes me as not having the skills for a good interviewer. She just doesn't come across as a comfortable speaker, comes up with poor, unimaginative questions (or her writer does), and shows little ability to stay on top of an interview either through controlling her interviewee or going along with her interviewee. She came across embarassingly narrow in pursuing her angle. For example, she interviewed Michael Jackson's older brother Jermaine about his brother's "strange" behavior. Jermaine defends Michael very well saying that recent stories about him have either twisted things out of context or just been overemphasized. Connie continues to press Jermaine for explanations for Michael's "strange" behavior even after Jermaine has satisfactorily refuted the assertion that his behavior is strange. Whether or not you agree with Jermaine (I did), Connie just came across as mean and/or incompetent in continuing to pursue the "Michael is so strange" angle. Difficult for me to explain, but she's not good at this confrontational style of interviewing at all. I'm going to consciously avoid her show just because of how bad she came across.
I don't know how it really went down, but I do remember a very funny SNL skit where they exagerate her tactics in trying to get dirt from Gingrich's mom. I imagine in real life, she set his mom up and probably spliced quotes with other questions to get the answers she wanted. Bad move CNN, hiring sucky people is what MSNBC does.
I thought the same thing watching her conduct interviews a while back on her show. She seemed ill-prepared and asked stupid questions. The interviews just flat out felt uncomfortable to watch. She seemed to fumble her worlds around a lot as if to improvise but that made her look unprepared. I dunno...seems like she needs to find another line of work or go back to whatever she was doing prior to the show. We don't need her. We have Wolf Blitzer and Crossfire. If the best your show can do is ask Michael's relatives about his odd behavior, then you must be desperate. Michael acts like an idiot alot probably because he didn't have a normal childhood due to always being in show business first. He's basically still a child in my opinion. Who cares?
