Since the Rox are in the market for a backup center...

Here is a list of all centers and forward-centers that are available as free agents. I'm sure that some of these can be immediately crossed off as being undesirable or unobtainable.

I said this before, Keon Clark. he can Rebound, Block shots, Score and his a really pretty agile big guy who gets up the floor really well. he's allways been good on the defensive transition. His got Quick feet and has a really quick and Powerfull verticle jump, hnce he is a hell of a shot blocker!. Keon clark for me!

I think more importantly we need to figure out which of these guys are not going to come to Houston.

Wallace is out of the question.
Camby has already agreed to stay in Denver I think?
Dampier is going to cost too much
Wizards are going to match any offer for Etan Thomas.
I'm pretty sure Swift will stay in Memphis.

Realistically, I'd say Brian Skinner is the best option.

when making that list, I had to laugh...

When I reached Kevin Willis, I was tempted to set his age to 135

I was tempted to leave some "hell no" players off the list (specifically, Oliver Miller and Slava Medvedenko). But, to remain objective, I left 'em on.

Some things to keep in mind:

Salary info from last season isn't listed. Some of these players are unaffordable.

Stats alone do not accurately show hustle, energy, effort, talent, sacrifice, or heart.

Rebraca, Collier, Doleac or whatever will do. We can worry about this next year. Shore up the starting spots first, esp 1 and 3. Let JJ go back to backup at both spots. Keep him fresh and effective.

Hakeem played with Serge Zwikker, Richard Petrushka, Eric Riley, etc. JVG has a short bench. Let's invest our money in starters, not backups.

I think Vitaly Potepenko has two years left on his 5.5+ mil. deal, so I don't think he belongs on the list.

Not lazy - I just didn't see it.

Also, I've been building my post for more than two hours, so I wouldn't have seen it.

Also Also, your post is for all FA's. This one was specifically about a backup center, and only shows C's and FC's.

Etan Thomas needs to learn to shoot the free throw ....but other than that, he's got what you need in shot blocks and rebounds and a few points, since that is all we need from the backup. How much does he cost?

I think gadruzic would be a nice pickup for the rockets. he will not cost much money and is a athletic big man who can rebound and block shots. offensively not very talented but can give you 8 points, he has had some good games for the bucks I do believe JVG can develop him into a solid backup for yao since he had no real development under Lavin at ucla, and even though porter impressed many with the way the bucks played here, I am gonna assume he is better in bringing about guards than big men.

personally if we can get skinner, gadzuric, fisher and possibly ollie (if that pike deal is still on the table) then we should be ok come this season
