Astros' Lee, Area Players Selected to MLB All-Star Game Houston Astros left fielder Carlos Lee was selected to the 78th annual MLB All-Star game which will take place on Tuesday, July 10 at San Francisco's AT&T Park. Lee, who is now a three-time all-star, currently leads the National League with 68 RBI and has been everything the Astros have dreamed of so far. Along with Lee's NL-leading RBI total, El Caballo is currently sporting a .293 average with 15 home runs and 22 doubles. Lee had a three-home run game against the Phillies back in April and also has two walk-off grand slams to his credit. Lee, who is known mainly for his offense, is sixth in the NL with seven outfield assists. Although Lee is the current lone Astro on the All-Star team, two Houston area players were selected to the American League All-Star team: Josh Beckett (Spring): The native Texan has taken over the reigns as staff ace of the Boston Red Sox. Beckett became one of six Red Sox pitchers to start the season 7-0, which includes someone named Babe Ruth. As of Sunday, Beckett is 11-2 with a 3.38 ERA and is an early candidate to start next Tuesday's All-Star game. Carl Crawford (Houston): A product of Houston's Jefferson Davis High, Crawford turned down offers out of high school to play basketball at UCLA and football at Nebraska, was selected to his second All-Star game as Tamp Bay's lone representative. Crawford is currently batting .288 with 49 RBI and 20 stolen bases. To his credit, Crawford is a two-time AL stolen base champion and holds many Devil Ray records including runs (104), triples (19) and stolen bases (59). http://houstonist.com/2007/07/02/astros_lee_area.php
