best pro sports team in Houston, by default of course. Texans 7-7 500 Rockets 12-13 480 Astros 73-89 451
As what excites me right now.... Texans Astros Rockets Dyanmo. I can't remember ever forgetting about Rockets games like I have this season. I used to be an active member of the PBP in chat.
wow. sucky realization. But as always, it's nice to have 1 team in the offseason so we can say "at least the Astros have moves in the works and might turn it around"....
It's only my opinion, and I'm sure it falls short of reality, but for me a "sport" is an athletic game--a game that involves physical exertion and skill. So, soccer's in (though it bores me to tears). Golf is in. On the bubble for me--horse racing. The horse is the real athlete, but I'm sure there is coordination and skill on behalf of the midget. I mean jockey. Poker, bowling, and Neckcar are out.
Same here. Last year I watched pretty much every game, no matter what. Even if I remember to watch this year, I've had to change the chanel cause they are unbearable to watch.
The problem is that the Dynamo doesn't play in the top league in its profession. I feel the same way about the Dynamo winning as I do about the Aeros winning a championship... meh. I don't know anything about the best soccer leagues, but if the Dynamo won in the best futball euroleague, that would be totally different.
They play in the top league in this country. This isn't like the NFL or NBA where they're looking to expand to other countries. I don't think the Premier League is calling anytime soon with an invite. The Aeros are a minor league team. They answer to someone else. The Dynamo are at the top. There is a difference.
Help me out in my ignorance, here. I just see a guy sitting in a car as not exerting the athleticism that a broad-jumper or point guard does. Again, I'll just admit my ignorance. Car racing and horse racing seem less like athletic events to me because the real performance is done by the car (or the horse).
I'm guessing that driving around in circles at 150mph for four hours at a time would be somewhat physically demanding. However, given your added caveat, I agree that auto racing is not a sport.
I heard it described by a driver as sitting on a stationary bike, peddling as fast as you can, while wearing a wetsuit & helmet, and having a guy sitting behind you banging on your head with a ballpeen hammer. For 4 hours. At 150 miles per hour. It's mentally & physically exhausting, and requires a tremendous amount of skill & coordination. Does that make it a "sport"? Don't know & don't particularly care.
Geez, some of ya'll need to lighten up. I'm sure this is just a joke (one I would have made). It's just missing the obligatory smiley.
