I happened to be in Houston yesterday, and while listening to sports radio 610, I heard a comment made by Steve in Los Angeles saying something to the effect that, he (Steve) was not going to play defense in this game, and that coach Van Gundy doesn't need to watch this game. I was wondering if anyone else heard this quote that came on a Sportscenter update around 9:15 a.m. I am not looking to further damnify Steve's rapidly diminishing good standing, but it did not seem if Steve was making a joke, as no reporters were laughing. The remarks seemed spiteful and disparaging in the tone in which they were delivered.

This is getting kind of silly. It's the All-Star game... a game known for no defense. It's tradition.

It is less about playing defense in the "All-Star game", and more about the comments being spiteful to coach Van Gundy.

i dont see how one can see that as spiteful unless youre more anal than a 6th catholic school algebra teacher. its easy to understand he meant JVG (being the D - maestro / guru ) doesnt need to watch and be disgusted by an all star game that honors and acknowledges offense and gives no credit or acknowledgent to all star defense aspects of the game. if i was JVG, watching the all star game would require a puke bucket by my side.

    That's pretty funny.

Come on. It goes right with Sally yelling "Van Gundy!" before Steve's shot last night. :). Get a sense of humor. Good to see Steve has one.

When SF3 said that I was "Good" I dont want him to be the only person playing defense and getting himself hurt. People need to get off his back..no one plays defense in that game unless its close at the end.

damn yall look for anything to bash Steve

Oh my God! hes not going to play D in the All-Star Game just like every other player there? .... And obviously the joke is telling JVG not to watch since he is so defensive minded.

some of yall need to get some new hobbies .. bashing steve is getting a little old

No one plays defense in the All-star game. Steve just wants to relax and have fun out there.

JVG is about defense and discipline regardless of the setting, all the time... and Steve knows that JVG probably isn't a fan of the no-defense past of All-Star games and was just bustin' his balls a bit.

I'd like to see if they can play less Defense than the rooks and sophmores did.
