Who else things Condi Rice would make an excellent running mate to a presidential hopeful?

I think she is just fantastic and hope to see her run for president someday. She has been giving a few interviews over the weekend about Iran and I was just amazed by her ability to draw you in. Very insightful and intelligent and would make a great leader.

    discuss?

Middle America will not vote for a woman. None the less for a black woman, however qualified she maybe. Check back here in about 50 years.

While she has repeatedly been caught lying, her whoppers haven't been the size of the ones told by our current vice president.

It is apparent that honesty isn't a requirement for VP candidate these days. So maybe she is qualified to be a VP. Though so far she has mainly been someone who could make this administration's policies seem to have reason, which is no easy task. Her spin works well enough for the avg. person who doesn't pay very close attention, so she might have what it takes.

I wouldn't like her, but that doesn't mean she couldn't be on a winning ticket for someone.

ok. Here is the biggest one.

Despite all the knowledge that the tubes weren't for nuclear weapons Rice claimed not that it was possible to use them for enrichment, but that they could really only possibly have one purpose.

She wasn't the only one spreading that lie, but she did lie.

Then of course there is the lie she told about the administration and intel never imagining that airliners could be used as deadly weapons, when in fact there were reports specifically warning of that and in fact steps had been taken to prevent that in some other aspects.

This was her biggest lie and her political legacy.

Bush's supporters have made it clear that they don't mind if the administration lies. In fact, they applaud it. There is no lie too great and no evidence too iron clad to change their minds about that. And as long as Bush's base continues to reward him and his administration for lying, they will continue to lie. Nothing's shocking to me anymore. This is the most fundamentally dishonest administration in our nation's modern history (at least) -- they are considerably more brazen than Nixon's White House -- and their supporters lap it up.

My favorite is the one where she went up and gave sworn testimony before the 9-11 commission and claimed that a particular briefing document contained no indication that Bin Laden wanted to strike within the US.

The title of the document in question? : "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Within US" or something like that.

That reminded me of those tobacco company executives who went up to congress and swore that they didn't personally believe cigarettes caused cancer.

And the Bush apologists are like the people that not only continue to smoke but insist that a link between smoking and cancer is unproven and the studies showing one are inconclusive.

Smoking and believing that smoking doesn't cause cancer=harm to yourself

Being a Bush loyalist and believing all contrary facts to be false=harm to others

I'm aware of the distinction. I made the analogy because rewarding the WH for repeatedly lying to the American people, about things big and less big, does not only harm others -- it also harms the ones that reward the lying. They damage not only us or the Constitution or Democracy but themselves as well. And then they celebrate. It is so important to them that their team wins that they don't mind at all cutting off their own noses to spite our face.
