The lads from Ireland will be at the new Cowboys Stadium tonight and will be in Houston (Reliant Stadium) Wednesday night The show starts at 7pm with gates opening at 5. I'm not sure how early people will start to camp out (for those who have General Admission, floor seats) but no doubt this will be a great concert so it would be worth the waiting. From what I've read the setlists have been great so far and the stage itself, with the rotating 360 degree claw mechanism, adds great effects to the show. Muse is the opening act and I know there has been a thread about Muse ripping songs from other bands so I'm not sure how that will turn out. Anyone else going to the show?
The Claw Doesn't rotate, there are bridges that move. I'm going to call Reliant in a bit to find out about the lineup policy. The stage should be under construction at Reliant, has anybody seen anything on the news?
i don't have any details of the stage, but they starting prep work last wednesday at reliant. The guy said the stage was huge and takes a good amount of time to put together.
Man, they just told me that the gates to the parking lot open at 7am. That's brutal, there are definitely professional concert goers who have no problem with sitting in a line for damn near 10 hours before the doors open and then waiting another 2 hours on the floor before the opening act takes the stage.
Crap, 7am?! I thought I would be in a decent enought position if I left work around 3pm and showed up to wait in line until 5. It doesn't look like that will work if folks start queuing up at 7am. Any word on a wristband policy for those people waiting in line? Edit: I called Reliant Park and spoke to a lady who confirmed the gates will open for lines to start forming at 7am and there is no wristband policy.
They just stopped by at UVA in Charlottesville, VA and the concert was pretty bumpin. I don't even like U2 but I went to watch a little from outside Scott Stadium (can see inside the stadium from the street) and it was nice. They also basically shut the whole city down there was so much traffic. I was able to sell the two parking spots at my apartment located minutes walking from the stadium for $80.
It says $20 on the website. That's pretty messed up. That's why I'm taking the light rail. I've got floor tix and I'm not sure when I'm gonna get there. I've got the day off, but god damn I can't imagine lining up at 7 am. The doors open at 5. Then there are line nazis to worry about. The stadium is first come first served at the door, but they won't intervene if some people start walking up and down the line and making up rules like no place holding for people who will show up hours later or writing numbers on peoples hands. If somebody wants to number my hand I'm going to tell them to kiss my ass. I see their point about holding a spot for people coming later because the first couple hundred people get a wristband for the inner circle, but I just don't like random people acting like they can have control over the line. One thing I've read though, an advantage in bringing your car, is you can bring chairs and what not to sit in and things to entertain you. When they are a couple of hours from opening the doors, the stadium people should let you know that it's a good time to return stuff to your car while somebody holds your spot.
Will be going, is all parking at reliant $20? Are there better or secret spots to park at thats closer or less traffic?
One light north of Reliant Stadium on Kirby is La Concha Dr, across the street from Fiesta. If you go down La Concha, closer to the intersection of La Concha and N. Stadium Drive, there are some spots available along the curbside. It will take about 10-15 minutes to walk down Kirby towards Reliant Stadium but it's free.
Where's the best place to catch the light rail that's not too far away? Does it let you off right at Reliant?
What are/were tickets going for? been to one U2 Concert and loved it. i'm not a huge fan but think they make great music.
There's a stop right at Reliant. The train goes onto Fannin so you have to walk past the Arena and the Astrodome. My plan, as long as the protocol hasn't changed, is to park at the Museum of Natural Science parking garage. You don't pay to get in and once the museum is closed, the exit is open so you don't have to pay to leave. From there hoof it to the light rail stop on Fannin between Binz and Ewing. Quite a bit of walking, but worth it to avoid traffic and save 20 bucks.
Guys went to NASA today: <embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f8/716758716" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=44678537001&playerId=716758716&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://console.brightcove.com/services/amfgateway&servicesURL=http://services.brightcove.com/services&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&domain=embed&autoStart=false&" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" width="486" height="412" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" swLiveConnect="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed>
Change in plan. There's a park and ride at Fannin and West Bellfort. Just outside the loop and really close to Reliant. You can catch the train from there.
