ok, I know this thread probably has a very small audience, but Im gonna do it in case you are like me and didn't know till just now. (thanks moe, I totally would have never seen that pressie) anyway Anyone attending the Rush show in Houston that was originally scheduled for Sunday night needs to change their plans. http://www.kkrw.com/pages/rush.pdf Seems that the show after Houston was going to be in NOLA at the Hornets arena, but because of the playoffs, they had to re-schedule the show there, which means they have to re-schedule this one. It is now on Saturday night at the Woodlands, the same damn night and time of Game 1 in Houston Im torn, but if I cancel my daughter will never speak to me again, so it looks like Im gonna be on tape delay.
Wow! I'm going to the Dallas show on Friday night. It's hard to believe that they actually swapped these dates. That is messed up. I would have expected them to make up NO on an available date...even if it screwed up their tour route. I have a feeling some people won't even get wind of this and miss the show completely.
this isnt a music opinion thread you really didnt need to post to let us know you have no taste in music.
Is that what you think? 'cause I'd think that starting a thread about a hot ukranian secretary, but without posting pics would be "really really lame". So... did Rush do that? no. so shut yer cakehole.
Thanks for the heads up. I probably would have missed it! Interestingly rush.com has the Houston show listed for the 19th but does not indicate that t was a date change.
Then don't go to the concert and keep your opinions to yourself. Now if someone asked for your opinion then that is different. But in this case you are out of line. Drop and give me 50 push ups and get to the back of the line.. Its cool though, most folks either like them or hate them. I feel they are one of the few true musician bands left. They truly care about the sound quality and have said that they will never perform a song that they feel is not up to snuff when compared to the cd version. They are quality guys who play music for right reasons.
Exactly. These guys are all outstanding musicians who perform for the fans, they have more money than any man could spend in a lifetime, they do it now for the love of the music and for the fans who still flock in large numbers to see them. If you make the mistake of dismissing them as just another tired old rock band, it is your loss. No prob chase, gotta give moes the credit for giving me the heads up. anyone that does go, if you wanna come by and say hi, bottom dead center is where we normally try to get, jsut look for a couple old hippies.
I have sat front row and back and many in between. I have not missed a Rush show in Houston since I started seeing them live in 1984. Seen them every time they come around. I like the hill. I have a couple high quality mini-binoculars so sitting back in the breeze is fine by me. Every one stands anyways. My buddy that is coming with me will be wearing a homemade Neil Peart for President shirt. We will be with my 13 year old daughter (her 2nd time seeing Rush since this is a return concert on the same tour) and my buddy's 12 year old son (his first Rush concert). If you see me, just wave and yell GO ROCKETS!!!!!!
I'm sitting on the right side in row "E" which is, I think, about 9 or 10 rows back (assuming the sealed-off front section is about 4 or 5 rows). BTW, this date change may work out for the best as the weather is supposed to be beautiful on Saturday night.
I was front row two tours ago...albeit on Ged's side. I think front row is a little overrated personally. It's great if you want to make eye contact with the band and be noticed by them. Or, see them actually play their instruments up close. However, the sound on front row is far from ideal and you lose the grand view from further back for the light show and multimedia. I would recommend front row at least once in a fan's lifetime. However, I would never pay the exhorbant prices for front row. I got lucky when I scored front row during a pre-sale. I would still love to do front row near Alex...to see him rip on the guitar. Plus, he makes all those faces and interacts with the crowd more than Ged does. I remember when I was front row two tours ago (R30). Ged came out during the opening medley and got right in our faces. We were all smiles staring at each other. It's like seeing family after a long abscence. Front row is so hard to get, though, unless you buy a scalped ticket. I think the best chances to get front row, or first few rows, is on the day of the show when they release reserved tickets that weren't used back into the public sale. You have to be extremely lucky to get those on the day of...but it happens all the time.
yeah, I've done the front row thing, and during my days doing local crew for Pace, even got to hang behind the barricade...the sound quality is horrible that close and dont even dream of getting the full impact of the stage show from that close. That is why we always try for that sweet spot at the bottom of the hill, you get the full view and the sound is pretty good as far as getting the full mix...the only issue I have ever run into there is when they have to use a tent over FOH in inclement weather, then we shift over till we can see.
RUSH is freaking awesome. Neil Peart = Greatest drummer ever. I know on this board I am in the minority. They could never rise to Nickelback talent...
The show last night was great! The weather was awesome and it lasted about three hours (7:45PM to 11:00PM plus a 15 Minute intermission). How many groups play for almost three hours these days! For those of you who just know the song Tom Sawyer, for this tour it is being introduced by Lil' Rush a.k.a. Cartmen, Kenny, Stan and Kyle: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FrejJHPnVfk&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FrejJHPnVfk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> "I'm Geddy Lee! And I'll sing whatever it is that I want!"
Wooo! That was one HELLUVA show. as usual , the mix was great, the light show and backscreen graphics were fun to watch. The only signs of age catching up to them is in the need for a intermission in the 3 hr long show. Not bad for a buncha old geezers. We enjoyed the show immensely...is there nothing greater than watching your offspring jamming to the music you jammed to when you were her age? I dont think so.
