But carrying a concealed weapon isn’t just a right-it’s a responsibility. Citizens who are licensed to carry guns are by definition law-abiding and responsible. They get proper training, and they ensure their children are properly trained and safe. When the concealed weapons laws were first passed, many predicted wild-west shootings. In fact, violent crime and homicide in the 33 states that have passed such laws have declined significantly, according to studies by Yale’s John Lott Jr., PhD. Although more citizens own guns than ever before, accidents involving children and guns have in fact declined over the past decade, according to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports. ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?

I have a question, though. Since gun-related crimes have been down all across America, are the drops we're seeing in states with concealed-carry permits larger or smaller (or the same) as states that do not have concealed-carry permits? The way the information is presented here, the causal relationship between concealed-carry permits and the drop in crime is not established. Such a link may actually exist, but I think we need to see more than what is presented here to know that. But I think it has been established that the dire predictions of Wild West shootouts if these laws were passed have not come to pass. ------------------ Houston Sports Board Film Dallas.com AntiBud.com
Citizens who are licensed to carry guns are by definition law-abiding and responsible. From what I understand, this isn't always true -- at least not in Texas. Several convicted felons have managed to get permits. In fact, violent crime and homicide in the 33 states that have passed such laws have declined significantly, according to studies by Yale’s John Lott Jr., PhD. 33 states have passed such laws? Wow. In the other 17 states, I'm guessing violent crime and homicide have also declined, since it's declined across the board. The question is where is it declining the most? ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets.
Violent crime accross the nation have been dropping consistently over the past 18 years, before concealed weapon laws, I believe. ------------------ I have just realized that the stakes are myself I have no other ransom money, nothing to break or barter but my life my spirit measured out, in bits, spread over the roulette table, I recoup what I can nothing else to shove under the nose of the maître de jeu nothing to thrust out the window, no white flag this flesh all I have to offer, to make the play with this immediate head, what it comes up with, my move as we slither over this go board, stepping always (we hope) between the lines
