Guys, I'm trying to open a file but I don't know if I need a special program or whatever... It's not opening with winzip or winrar, so I'm guessing it's not compressed, but I really don't know.

    The filename:

    filenamehere.DEViANCE.ShareReactor.bin

    Any suggestions?

You need something to simulate a CD drive, there is a program called Virtual Clone Drive that works. Then you need to drag that .bin file to that virtual CD drive.

When you put it that way...

You make me feel completely computer illiterate, lol.

Tell me if I'm correct: I should acquire this program named "Virtual Clone Drive". With this program, I can open this .bin file. However, how does one "Drag" this file into a "virtual" drive?

Not sure, but I think one can download that program for free. The "virtual" drive appears in your windows explorer like an actual CD-ROM drive. You just drag and drop the .bin file onto that drive in the "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer".

I know there are some freeware programs out there that will take a bin file and create mpg and dvd or cd mirrors on your hard drive. I think there's something called ISO something or other. I'll look on my home computer later this evening if you haven't found anything.

Not sure why people distribute bin files if you just want to watch a movie. Is it just easier to create them than ripping a movie to .avi or.mpg?

You can use WinISO or ISOBuster to open up the file.

They are created as BINs w/ a CUE file so they can be burned onto CD or DVD to watch in the DVD player.

You should be able to burn the file to media using Nero. Other "ISO-reading" programs could do it as well.

the bin file you downloaded is an image file there should have been a cue file with that bin file

if you dont want to burn it you can use a virtual cd rom like Daemon Tools

its free and you can get that here: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/portal.php

the you'll have to "mount" the cue file onto the virtual drive

Yeah, if you already have nero, it should be able to handle that. A bin is just like an ISO or an NRG. Nero can burn those to a cd, mount them to a fake drive, etc. But those other programs (daemon tools, ISObuster, etc) are better for mounting images to fake drives and creating them and so forth, but if you just want one program for it all, get Nero 6 utra edition. Take that file and make an ISO out of it with Nero Burning Rom (when it says near the top right in the main screen what disc drive you want to burn it to, just click that thing and select IMAGE or "Just Make a damn image" or something like that). Then open up Nero Image Drive and select "Enable Image Drive" then click the other tab and load the ISO file that you made. It'll now be like you have the real CD of whatever you downloaded. And if you choose to burn that ISO (or the original bin/cue) file to a real disc, it'll be just like the real CD...not just a bunch of files in folders on a CD.

Oh, and if you go to suprnova.com forums, there's a lot of FAQ's and explanations on how to use BIN/CUE, ISO, and NRG "Image Files" and how they work to your advantage.

    Spybot Search and Destroy
    Adaware

Download, install and run one of these two programs, that should help.

I had the same problem and used spybot and it worked for awhile. Eventually I just backed everything up and reformatted.

Run both of them -- Spybot S+D takes care of about half, and Adaware takes care of about half. Then use firefox, and you'll be in good shape.

    <a href="http://www.safer-networking.org/">Spybot Search and Destroy</a>
    <a href="http://www.lavasoftusa.com/">Adaware</a>
    <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/">Mozilla Firefox</a>

Use both Spybot and Adaware to get rid of spyware on your machine, and use Mozilla Firefox as your web browser. It blocks popups, doesn't let sites install spyware, and has a lot of great features.

All the others are just frauds . . .

Seriously, this is what you need -- Spybot S+D, Adaware, and Firefox.
