I had to do a complete system recovery on a friends computer last night. I reformatted it and began the process of uploading all the drivers and software. Its an HP computer and i used the HP cd's that came with it. I ran into a snag shortly after reinstalling Disc #2. Apparently within the past year or so the ORIGINAL video card was removed and replaced with a new one. Well, the drivers that are on the system recovery disk are for the original. Once the computer configured all the new settings it took me to the Windows Mellinium Registration page. It's the page you have to go through to gain access to your desktop. The monitor settings are stuck on 640 X 4something rather than being the normal 800X600. The color is also messed up. This has created a problem. Because of the smaller resolution, i am unable to see the ovals in which i must click in to accept the User License Agreement. it will not let me advance past that screen until i do so. I've been thinking today what i could do. The only thing i could think of was trying to "Tab" my way down to the oval and click enter, hoping that would accept the agreement and allow me to move on. I have not attempted it yet but am wondering if it would indeed work. For what's its worth a Best Buy Technician recommended trying it also. The old video card is gone which is why i'm desperate for a way to get into this computer. Once there i could simply install the new drivers and it wouldn't be a problem. Anyone out there with any suggestions?
Yep, fortunately it worked. It was Tab and Spacebar. Once i got in i was able to update the driver and its running better than it has in quite a while. Thanks for the help
For future reference : <ALT><SPACE><M> - then use arrow keys to move the window around. Hit <ESC> when you want to get out of "move" mode. Hitting <TAB> moves the focus from control to control. Hitting <SPACE> selects an option/radio button that has focus (like the "ovals" you are talking about).
