As always, whenever life needs advice come to Clutchfans.net. I was having trouble with my CPU overheating a while back because the fan was not working properly. I replaced the whole cooling unit and now, the fan works great and is much much quieter than the one before, but now I'm getting the blue screen lockup when before it would mostly lock up whenever I was running video or something. Could I have screwed up the CPU while I was switching out the cooling unit? Before, I just avoided overloading the computer with too many programs, but now it seems to happen so randomly. Thanks in advance.
did it start doing that immeditaely after replacing the fan? the CPU may have gotten heat damage before you replaced the fan/heat sink.
Your going to need to be more specific about your computer spec and what you're running for some of us to know what went wrong. It could be so many thing. Did you assemble it yourself? It could be that you might need a proper driver for you video card. If you are running windows XP, it could be the RAM. BUt like I said, it could be anything from simple to complicated matter. By the way how much knowledge do you have about computer? If non, I would say bring it in and get it fix so you dont have to go through many headaches.
Thanks for the help - I've decided to go ahead and take it in to have it fixed. I think that's probably the best thing to do to get it taken care of correctly.
Cool, but I think it's a little to late to tell you now becasue I hope you didn't leave any personal or confidential stuff you don't want people to see when you do take it in. That's why I never take my machine in to get it fix because stuff on my machine are pretty personal that I don't want people to go through so pretty much I've learn to fix my machine myself with the help of learning it off the internet. It's amazing how easy it is to learn it on your own but you still have to go through many trials and errors. Good luck and I hope they find the problem(s).
I have a computer question, what's the deal with the little red X in the top left hand corner when you click on certain pictures. I can see 99% of all pictures on the internet but what is up with the little red X.
Well just don't take it to Best Buy or something like that. Hopefully you have a friend that has some experience with troubleshooting pc's. Best Buy and places like that charge way too much to have your machine looked at by someone that probably doesn't have much more experience than you do.
