I just reformatted and set up my pc, but I am having a "display" problem. The image on the screen is displayed, but it is "framed" by black all around it and the mouse can't go into that area. Any idea how to fit the screen to my monitor?

Generally this indicates that the driver it is using for your video card is incorrect. You need to get the correct driver installed.

Yep go to dell.com, find support>downloads>enter your service tag, should be on a small sticker with a bar code..... select video driver when it asks you to select what driver you want to download along with what OS you are using and install it from there.

    Good luck

Yes, I think it is a driver problem. Does anyone know where I can look in the control panel to see what type of monitor I have? I can't download the driver because there are so many choices.

From control panel double click the system icon then go to the hardware tab ...... click on device manager ... on that screen click on the plus sign next to next to display adapter this is the driver you will need to download from the link I gave you.

Looked in the device manager and there is no tab for anything that has to do with display. I cracked open my Dell owner's manual and it says in it that the monitor is "SXGA+, UXGA, or Dell Ultrasharp UXGA TFT". However, I am still at a loss on what driver I need to download from the list that they provide.

Also while your there you might want to see if there are any other yellow marks showing up next to your devices, I know the dell restore cds often doesn' load all the drivers.......

It's more fun when it doesn't load the NIC driver for you though.

Also try right clicking the desktop and going to the settings tab and adjust your screen resolution to something above 800x600, sometimes it will not use the entire screen if that is at a really low setting.

There is a yellow ? next to "other devices". Opening it up shows that there is a yellow ? next to "Video Controller (VGA compatible)".
