When I try to turn my laptop on now, the laptop gives me a blue screen error message which says "unmountable_boot_volume." Anyone know what that means and whether it is an expensive fix? Thanks.
without knowing specifics, XP's repair (assuming it's Win XP) mode might be a good way to go to see if it can fix itself..
if your drive is not failing..you can try this if you have a windows xp cd. http://www.daniweb.com/forums/post199944-2.html
do you have some external drive plugged in, or a CD in the laptop. If so, remove them including a flash drive.
^^^ If not, like others suggest, your XP boot sector on your hard drive is bad, you need a XP CD to repair it.
How's it going, bud? I haven't tried to fix this yet (been extremely busy), but I will shoot you an e-mail.
Ahh, 'tis the great BSOD. What's the error code (the bunch of numbers and letters) before "unmountable boot volume" ?
