It all started with Internet Antivirus Pro showed up on my laptop. Apparently my security software was not updated and the malware quickly jacked with my computer. I searched the web for the best ways to remove the malware as I was unable to run my current protection successfully. Finally I had to remove my hard drive and hook it up to another computer to run antivirus on it. When I reconnected hard drive, I continued to have problems and couldn't even boot up. I can't choose normal or safe mode as any choice leads me to an automatic restart of the computer. I was able to see a message screen stating that problems were detected forcing a restart and stop codes but don't know how to proceed from here. I have a recovery disk for Windows XP but do not want to take a risk of deleting work files. Anybody have suggestions / recommend a place where I can have my PC repaired over the weekend?
i got infected with Antivirus Pro last weekend. It took along before i found the answer. i wished i saved the link. here's what i remember. i couldn't boot into safe mode either. but, get back to your desktop and keep trying to bring up your task manager. antivirus pro will keep killing it but after the 10th try it should work. click on your process tab. look for a program with sysguard.exe. terminate it. then do a file search for sysguard.exe. when you find it, rename it to sysguardfake.exe. reboot. this will prevent your pc from autostarting Antivirus pro on reboot. after you've rebooted, search for sysguardfake.exe and delete it. i think that's all the steps. since then, i haven't had any trouble.
Man, sorry to hear that you got hit with this sucker as well but glad you haven't had any problems since your fix. I am running the Kaspersky antivirus again. It is searching the C drive so the hard drive is still recognizable, but my guess is that there are more nasty things going on that I don't know about.
I would add Run HiJack this and looking for some Host Files that will redirect your Browser. If you are able to . . Goto Start --> Run -- MSCONFIG and look for the sysguard in the Start up Files [or something related ] and uncheck it Rocket River
I ran into this messy stuff the other day and my operating system was just completely crashing down,no normal or safe mode,no nothing but only a blue screen pop-up that showed some problems have been detected and it has to shut down the computer for its own protection or something. This kinda corruption of sys file, which it's believed to be in my opinion, really bothers me to get it fixed,so I decided to format the C partition and install a whole new Microsoft operating system for a try, guess that's the best way. BTW,if you had any work files saved in C partition, would you mind tryna boot into Ms-Dos mode to get them out to another partition so you could spare no effort to repair your system in case you fail to then you could re-install it? Well, that's just my advice, good luck with that bud.
