Im trying to play Homeworld on my ****ty computer. Its like 3 years old, and it has 32MB RAM. I installed another 32MB RAM this morning, and it updated the drivers and everything. It was like "New Hardware Was Detected". But when the computer restarted and everything, it only shows 32MB RAM. What can I do?
You need to go into the BIOS settings and see if it recognizes the additional RAM. If not, you might have to manually tell it that you added more (but probably not). Other than that, the RAM slot you added the second card to might be bad. Try switching the two RAM cards out with each other and see if the new one works.
Like boomboom says - Check the BIOS, you may have to change a jumper or dip switch on the motherboard. Bad News - are you sure you have the right type of RAM? Same as your other RAM? Also try updating the BIOS. One other thing, are you sure your computer can handle over 32 MB? I have an older PC that will only take 48MB of RAM.... Good Luck..
was your old ram in two 16mb dimms and did you just put one 32mb dimm into one of two empty slots? b/c on my dads old PC Ram had to be installed in pairs
I went into BIOS, dont really know what im doing in there. Its in 2 32MB sticks. Im pretty sure it can handle 64MB. I guess ill try to put it in again.
