It stopped working, so I put in new batteries. That didn't do the trick. So I went out and bought a new mouse. I plugged in the USB, and the hardware was added, but it STILL does not work. It lights up fine, but I can't move my pointer with the mouse. I hate using the stupid touchpad. It's an inconvenience and is not very efficient. Please Help!!!
Is something else plugged into your laptop? My wireless mouse wouldn't work when my ipod was connected to the other USB slot due to wire interference of the ipod cable. Remember to coil your cords.
No wire interference. Nothing plugged in. I have a feeling I have to activate something on my comp, I just don't know what. Usually I just plug in the USB and the mouse is good to go from there.
We need the laptop model and touchpad software name. I have an XPS by Dell which uses a little program called "Dell Touchpad" on the icon tray. If I double-click it, there's an option to turn it off or to use only the wireless connected device or settings for the "external device." See if you have that. Maybe check the "Mouse" settings in the control panel? Try that?
I have a Gateway w/Vista. Mouse is a Labtec I have a Synaptics Touchpad V5.9 Pointing Device Control panel is of no help. I'm scared that if I disable the touchpad, I won't be able to move anything and therefore wouldn't be able to enable the touchpad back.
Dude. You're kidding me, right? A true Windows application will work on it without a mouse. You have to know how to do things without your mouse or touchpad. Please tell me you know how to get to the Control Panel with your keyboard. For Vista, a mouseless method: press the Windows Key press "C" then "O" then "N" (to search for "CONtrol Panel") [wait for the list of programs to show up] Use the arrow to move down on the search items, when you're on "Control panel", press Enter In the Control Panel, press Tab until the selection is in the middle of the area Press arrow down to go to "Mouse", press Enter The TOUCHPAD tab should show up first. Use Ctrl+Tab to move through the tabs. The Hardware tab should be last. Use arrows to move the selection, ENTER to apply settings changes.
If it were my computer, I would remove the USB for the wireless mouse and then go into the control panel and uninstall the wireless mouse. I would then plug the USB piece back in and see if it gets recognized by the system. If it still doesn't, I would then plug some other USB device into that USB port and make sure it gets recognized. Also, have you restarted your computer? I would shut down, power down and then restart.
