I am having problems downloading large items. Specifically, I am trying to download a large audiobook on iTunes and it just keeps getting stuck. I have had similiar problems elsewhere and am coming to the conclusion that my wireless connection glitches every once in a while, causing it to freeze. A side example is on-line poker. It wil work okay for a bit, then it freezes and may even kick me off the table. So, my question is: Is there any special way to hook up non-wirelessly now? I have a Toshiba Cable Modem and a Lynksys Wirless B Router. The labtop I'm on doesn't have an NIC card, though. I am inept at a lot of computer issues.
What kind of wireless router is it? I've had that same type of trouble with my old Dlink... something with it losing packets and freezing up. I eventually replaced it. If you watch for deals you can score a new 802.11G wireless router for less then 20 bucks or pick up a PCM/CIA network adapter for like 10 bucks shipped.
I've always been a fan of Netgear myself... great stuff and good prices. I've had nothing but trouble with my Dlink and Linksys routers in the past. I just set up a Netgear WGR614 at my Dad's house, and it works great... he has a large one story house on a big lot and the signal is excellent on the opposite side of the house through 10+ walls and a good 200 feet from the house. It is also one of the more highly rated "cheap" routers and currently has a 20 buck rebate. reviews http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1822412,00.asp http://reviews.cnet.com/4505-3334_7-21218238.html buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=33-122-016&depa=0&CMP=KNC-thanksgivin9 http://shop2.outpost.com/product/3635275
