This Antivirus XP 2008 just showed up on my computer and it kind of freaked me out.

However, i did some research and found that all the viruses it was detecting were fake and its designed to trick me into purchasing phony software.

Still, this program or whatever is pretty annoying...does anyone know how i can get rid of it? i found some instructions online, but they were a little too complex for me.

    I'd greatly appreciate any help/advice...thanks!

I've seen this one a lot over the last week as well as WinAgent.32. Spybot and Ad-Aware removes it but it gets restored on the system after a reboot.

    Try this -

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Mp83dp2Py60&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Mp83dp2Py60&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Thanks for the help, guys. I saw the malware d-load earlier, but wasn't sure if that would actually be helpful.

I just got through running it and it seems to have gotten rid of the problem (knock on wood)

    Thanks again!

This will do the job, though there are several variations of it (antivirus XP).

    AXP is some mean bug.

There's also something called ComboFix that has worked - along with this malware bites - in the past. If you have further problems look that up (it's best to run it in Safe Mode).
