Win XP IE 6. TW Road Runner. Is there a new virus out there, because my sister said that her coworker recieved mail from her that she didn't send. second, i use a cable modem to get on and all that stuff, and it wont connect. I just click on IE, and do my thing there, but it says it's not found or whatever that crap says. I called Time Warner, and they said some dumb stuff. They got me a new modem thing, and some disc to install that thing. It says my computer specs is good and all, but the only redmark is there is no connection found. It basically says my network tcp/ip settings may contain outdated information. THen I click continue so it can configure itself. Then it says the system failed the conectivity check. What about this proxy thing? What the hell is that. Two weeks ago, i had a problem or something, but I fixed that. I am currently using a 56k dialup modem. Remember when 56K was all sexy and fast? any help at all is appreciated.
i use a cable thingie to get on. its not a phone jack thing. i connect via cable from time warner. maybe i am not explaining it good. how about this, my cable modem **** is not working.
your cable modem should look similar to this: http://subscribers.aroundcarolina.com/art/toshibaback2500.jpg therefore you should have one of these connected to your cable modem and the back of your pc http://www.ac-rennes.fr/pedagogie/svt/labosvt/technic/reseau/rj45.jpg also there should be something like this on your wall http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/power-outlet.jpg and your cable modem should have a plug that fits into that (sort of like a "puzzle") once you plug that in a green light should come on try that or your RR cable network in your area could be down http://help.rr.com/getpage.asp?/asp/networkstatus.asp
Hell, I might as well kick this in too. For all you prostate dorks: My penis is whistling whenever I go #1.
didnt really want to read that. Let me add this. The last time something happen like this, my cable picture was kind of fuzzy. Also, the digital box outside lost some channels. I think channel 101, and up, had no signal. I go to my living room, and turn on NBA TV, on 101, and ESPNEWS on 116, and I see them work, but my cable modem doesnt work. Usually, when my cable modem was out, those channels were also out. I know there has to be some correlation to them. We called the cable people to come screw around with it, but I think they actually did screw around with it. My cable line modem **** doesnt work, but NBATV is on, and ESPNNews, and all that other channels I dont watch on TV works.
Is there a new virus out there, because my sister said that her coworker recieved mail from her that she didn't send. You do not necessarily have to be infected. Some viruses roll their own email headers, so you sister may not have actually sent the infected email.
she never physically sent her email to her, but her coworker said she got something from her. if i recall, i think some virii use their address book and send it to everybody on it.
Welp. same thing has happened again. Peter wasnt there. Anyhoo. WOW!, rockets leading! anyhoo, my RR isnt connecting. i click on IE, err moz, err IE, and its saying page not found or whatever crap comes up. I think i need to unstill roadrunner and reinstall. Uninstall a driver, and then reset it, and isntall it again? Any help is appreciated. This time I will jot notes down.
I had a similar problem. My cable and modem and everything were working fine. Then one day it started doing what you described. The cable company had to come out and install an amplifier and that fixed the problem.
1) what is an amplifier? 2)it says network cable is unplugged. That means its not connecting, but what does it mean, mean?
ived stop. damn, it wasnt working all day, and now its 11:59 and now it works! god i hate technology.

If it is saying your network cable is unplugged that means it is not getting a single from the cable that is coming out of your cable modem into the back of the computer. Check to see that the connector on the back of the computers light is on meaning there is a connection between the cable modem and the computer. Also the PC light on your cable modem should be lit as well if the connection is correct. Is the Cable light on your modem solid or is it blinking? If it is solid then you are recieving a cable signal to the modem and the problem is going ot between the modem and the computer. I would definently try a new cable. if you are still getting the error then there might be something wrong with your network card. Try some of those and let me know.
